The Financial Service
Professional’s Foundation
established the American
Business Ethics Award
(ABEA) in 1994. Its purpose
was to recognize companies
that exemplified high
standards of ethical behavior
in their everyday business
conduct and/or in response to
a specific ethical crises or
challenge. With Ethics
representing a core
foundation of FSP’s mission,
the ABEA was a natural
extension of “ethics in
action”. State Societies
followed and today more than
178 Chapters across the
United States host their own
Business Ethics Awards to
honor and recognize
companies within their
communities. The Minnesota
Business Ethics Award
(MBEA) celebrated its 15th
Anniversary last year and is
well underway to celebrating
this year’s event on May 13,
2015. Mark your calendars!
We are very proud to
announce that this year’s
ABEA (Large Company
Category) was presented to
Marvin Windows and Doors
from Warroad, MN. Marvin
Windows and Doors also,
coincidently, won the 2014
MBEA Large Company
Award. A powerful testament
to their strong commitment to
ethical behavior benefiting
their
employees,
customers,
vendors,
and our
community
at large.
Each year entries from the
Regional programs are
forwarded to the national
ABEA for consideration.
Entries are judged by a

their Museum and Visitor Center, to an Award Luncheon
and rounded out by a visit to the “Shed” owned by Bob
Marvin, Mayor of Warroad. The “Shed”, as it where,
turned out to be an Automobile Museum filled with rare,
immaculately kept collectable cars. An experienced
collector surely would have thought they had died and
went to automobile heaven! Even an untrained eye was
“awed” by the incredible sight. The day concluded with
well-deserved congratulations, boarding the Marvin jet for
a return flight and a sense of deep gratitude to our gracious
hosts.
Reflecting upon the experience, elicited a powerful sense
of pride. Pride in the state of Minnesota’s nationally
recognized standard for business ethics. Pride in a family
business’s exemplary example of “ethics in action”. And
pride in being a member of FSP who originated, sponsors
and sustains this meaningful initiative called the Business
Ethics Award.
