The minutes from the Cabinet meeting on September 17, 2014 were approved with suggested revisions.
NOEL LEVITZ REPORT –
MELANIE WADE
Ms. Wade introduced Noel Levitz Assistant VP, Mr. Derek Flynn and Ms. April Lewis, Consultant in Training, to provide a presentation on the
University’s Strategic Use of Financial Aid: Enrollment and Revenue Management System (ERMS). ERMS is a data tool that allows for the evaluation
and measurement of the willingness of students in the admit pool to pay for a Wilkes education. Mr. Flynn identified the University’s greatest
challenges and successes in 2014. Ms. Wade will email the full presentation to the Cabinet for further review and discussion.
INNOVATION COUNCIL
– JACK CHIELLI
Mr. Chielli introduced members of the Innovation Council participating at today’s meeting. They include: Stuart Bennett, Mesa MBA Student; Carol
Bosack, Director of Career Services; Gopu Kiron, Graduate Education Student; Lisa Mulvey, Career Development Coordinator; and Kristine Pruett,
Assistant to VP of Strategic Initiatives. Other members of the Council who were unable to make today’s meeting include: Thomas Thomas, Executive
Director of University College; Bridget Turel, Asst. Director and Instructor for the Sidhu School; Eileen Sharp, Coordinator for Health Sciences
Professional Programs and Janine Becker, former Executive Director of Student Services.
The Innovation Council was tasked with exploring more ways to connect students with the career of their choice and to improve the overall financial
literacy of both the students and their families. These two major areas were broken down into four main recommendations:

Reorganizing and investing in career services.
Expanding the Personal and Professional Development Program.
Implementing financial literacy programming.
Simplifying financial billing and planning and enhancing communications.
The Innovation Council explained its recommendations and presented ideas for implementing them. Dr. Leahy and the Cabinet thanked the Council for
its work. Mr. Chielli will ensure that Mr. Prescott receives the recommendations regarding the financial literacy programming and financial billing and
planning. Dr. Skleder will discuss recommendations for the PPD program with the Dean’s at their next meeting. Dr. Leahy stated that resources for the
Career Center need to be identified and a new location explored.
The Cabinet will discuss follow up on the Council’s recommendations at a future meeting.
BYSTANDER TRAINING
– PAUL ADAMS
Dr. Adams introduced Dr. Phil Ruthosky to present a video about recognizing sexual misconduct and practicing appropriate bystander behavior. The
film was cast with student actors and will be viewed by freshmen during FYF classes. The Cabinet was impressed with the powerful message and
suggested that all students have the opportunity to view it.
