Most current engineering designs of ophthalmic progressive
addition lenses operate by setting conditions on interest's points in the
progressive lens surface.
Optical power conditions and desired astigmatisms are established with this
points using an algorithm known as B -Splines. However, the lens surface is
a continuous topography in which the gaps located in the middle of the
interest's points are solved by interpolation. That means a loss of control
over optical astigmatism and optical power in most of the lens' surface.
After 6 years of R & D, with the challenge of developing a mathematical
model that takes into account the entire surface of the lens with infinite
points, not just capable of preventing the interpolation process but also to
improving the current designs, is how we reach to the exclusive "Continuum
Profile Technology".
This technology allows to mold the optic surfaces with infinite control points
by developing different customised designs of ophthalmic lenses that can
adopt different characteristics according to each user providing a better
result in the user's comfort and in the breadth of all fields of vision.
The kind of technology previously mentioned was developed to be used in
Freeform Technology production equipment under the VCA protocol,
allowing Novar lenses to be in a distinguished and reduced International
Group.
