FPM Referrer Info.pub - Frankston Pain Management

The Pain Problem
Acute pain is a useful warning system for
the body and usually causes no
management problems once the source
of pain is removed or the damage heals.
Chronic pain however, serves no useful
function. Whatever its origin, it inevitably
causes restrictions in living, suffering,
emotional distress and changes in family
relationships.
While it may not be possible to cure or
eliminate chronic pain, a variety of
treatment approaches can be employed
to reduce pain, enhance coping skills,
lessen suffering, and improve function
and quality of life for the individual.
How Can Frankston Pain
Management Help?
Frankston Pain Management
encompasses a motivated team of health
professionals with a special interest and
expertise in pain management, who will
work together collaboratively to meet the
needs of patients and clients.

Dr. Murray Taverner, Dr John Monagle or
Dr Selva Mudaliar assess all patients.
Patients will also have the opportunity to
consult with our on-site Psychologist,
Joanne McDonald. Joanne offers skilled
expertise in the psychological impact of
chronic pain and pain management
coping strategies.
Some patients will be referred to our
psychiatrists, for physical reconditioning
or an intensive pain management
program.
An individualised treatment plan will be
created by the team, involving an
effective combination of medical, physical
