Greater Lafayette Ranks High for STEM Jobs Greater Lafayette ranks second in the state for STEM job density, with 13.6 percent of the workforce employed in science, technology, engineering and math fields. That tops the state's 10.9 percent average and national average of 11.9 percent, the Indianapolis Business Journal reports. Since 2001, local STEM jobs have increased 70.6 percent.
