Overview 1.1. Tactics 먼저 답을 추측한 후에 선택항을 본다 선택항을 통해 제시어의 품사(part of speech)를 파악한다. 선택항의 단어는 모두 단일 품사를 가진다! polish(=refinement and culture) <=> gaucheness(awkwardness) 마땅한 답이 안 보이면, 제시어 및 선택항의 2차적인 의미도 생각해 본다 답을 결정하기 전에 모든 선택항을 읽어본다. unruly(통제하기 힘든/날뛰는) <=> tractable (다루기 쉬운) banality <=> unrehearsaled statement(x) / novel(신기한/기이한) expression 1.2. Antonym 제시어의 문맥에 주의한다. magnify => magnifying glass aberrant => aberrant behaivor / aberrant data 복잡한 단어는 형태소 분석으로 의미를 추축해본다. 비슷한 형태의 다른 품사를 갖는 단어를 가지고 의미를 추측한다. 의미가 제대로 생각나지 않는 경우에는, 긍정/부정의 구분만 해도 표과가 있을 수 있다. 형태만 반대인 단어에 주의한다 undermine <=> overstrain(x) redoubtable(가공할,강력한;존경할 만한) <-> unimposing(인상적이 아닌) 1.3. Analogy 선택항을 보기 전에 제시어쌍의 관계를 명확하게 문장으로 기술해본다. 제시어쌍의 순서를 바꾸어 본다. 하나 이상의 선택항이 남은 경우, 좀더 좁은 범위에서 생각해 본다. 유추의 유형을 알아둔다. 1.3.1. Sentence Completion 빈칸이 2개인 문제에서는 우선 선택항의 첫 단어를 근거로 부적절한 항을 제한다. 접속사에 주의한다. 1.4.1. Signals explicit contrast albeit : ~이기는 하지만 / ~라 할지라도 implicit contrast incongruity : 부적합함 2. Reading Comprehension 주제를 찾을 때에는 처음 및 마지막 문장에 주의한다. 제목을 찾을 때에는 너무 넓거나 좁은 범위를 다루는 선택항을 제외한다. 분위기를 찾을 때에는 분위기를 전달하는 단어에 주의한다. 지문을 이해했다고 해도 문제를 풀 때에는 해당 부분을 다시 읽으면서 푼다. 어렴풋한 기억 에 의존하여 답안을 작성하면 오류에 빠진다. 문제를 정확히 읽는다. 특히 사실 관계를 묻는지 추론을 요구하는지를 구분한다. 추론 문제 에서는 글에 나오는 내용보다, 글이 함축하는 내용을 답으로 고른다. 글의 내용을 새로운 상황에 적응시키기 Reason : If X is true, Y must also be true Perceive Feelings : If the author feels this way about subject A, he probably feels a certain way about subject B.
