environments.
TamCem HCA in combination with TamShot 80AF
ensures lower accelerator consumption due to better
cement / additive dispersion. Better flexibility in regard
to varying application processes within geologically
fluctuating areas.
Typical Applications
TamCem HCA reacts with all commonly used Portland
cement types and can be used to retard all cement based
grouts or concrete types where slow hydration is required.
Typically, TamCem HCA is used in the civil and
underground construction industry for applications such as:
TamCem HCA is a liquid additive for all fresh concretemixes where extended “open-time” becomes crucial for the
construction process time frame. The product has been
specially designed for hot weather concreting and its
chemical properties support the control of the initial cement
hydration during extended waiting or RMC transportation
times. TamCem HCA eliminates the amount of rejected
concrete due to loss of workability and helps contractors to
stay within or even reduce initially calculated material
budget.

Technical Data
TamCem HCA
TamCem HCA is a high performance hydration control
admixture for all wet sprayed concrete. It can be used in
tunnelling applications where low rebound and high
performance in combination with the cement set accelerator
(TamShot 80AF) is needed.

Application Guidelines
►
Refer to our Technical Department for detailed information
on the application of TamCem HCA.
Note: TamCem HCA should be added directly at the
batching plant or truck-mixer at a suggested dosage of 0.5%
to 2% of the cement weight in the concrete mix.
In all cases, it is recommended to carry out prior testing
involving all components such as cement, flyash, Micro
Silica, sand, aggregates, etc in order to optimise the
workability with Tam Hyper plasticising Admixtures.
Storage
TamCem HCA should be stored at room temperature (min
10°C and max 35°C (50°F to 100°F), kept in closed
containment until used and out of direct sunlight. If these
conditions are maintained and the product packaging
remains sealed, then a shelf life of 1 year can be expected.
However, it is recommended that the suspension shall be
mechanically agitated after longer storage and before use.
TamCem HCA will freeze at approximately -2°C (28.5°F)
but will return to full functionality after thawing and thorough
mild mechanical agitation.
The use of Tam Hydration Control Additive (HCA) is
recommended to ensure the highest possible reaction with
the cement lime for high early strength. Tam HCA also
extends the workable time of concrete.
►
All testing should be aligned to ASTM, BSEN, DIN or
EFNARC standards to evaluate the best performing mixdesign against economical considerations. Please always
involve your local Normet representative for support.
TamCem HCA should only be used as directed. We always
recommend that the Health & Safety data sheet is carefully
read prior to application of the material. Our
recommendations for protective equipment should be strictly
adhered to for your personal protection. The Health & Safety
data sheet is available upon request from your local Normet
representative.
