TamCem HCA Liquid Admixture for Controlled Concrete Retardation ► ► Page 1 of 2 Tunnelling & Mining Description ■ ■ Enhances performance of “shotcrete” accelerator. ■ ■ Reduces logistical efforts for site personnel. ► Factory controlled quality formula, tailor made for high temperature and high humidity application environments. TamCem HCA in combination with TamShot 80AF ensures lower accelerator consumption due to better cement / additive dispersion. Better flexibility in regard to varying application processes within geologically fluctuating areas. Typical Applications TamCem HCA reacts with all commonly used Portland cement types and can be used to retard all cement based grouts or concrete types where slow hydration is required. Typically, TamCem HCA is used in the civil and underground construction industry for applications such as: TamCem HCA is a liquid additive for all fresh concretemixes where extended “open-time” becomes crucial for the construction process time frame. The product has been specially designed for hot weather concreting and its chemical properties support the control of the initial cement hydration during extended waiting or RMC transportation times. TamCem HCA eliminates the amount of rejected concrete due to loss of workability and helps contractors to stay within or even reduce initially calculated material budget. ■ ■ ■ Bore pile concreting ■ ■ Bentonite retarded grouts ► TBM Backfill applications Stabilization of TamCrete MFC for pre-injection of rock mass Stabilized Shotcrete mixes for tunnelling Technical Data TamCem HCA TamCem HCA is a high performance hydration control admixture for all wet sprayed concrete. It can be used in tunnelling applications where low rebound and high performance in combination with the cement set accelerator (TamShot 80AF) is needed. Color Clear green Density 1.07 Form Liquid Chloride content < 0.1% By adjusting the dosage, setting times of fresh concrete can be extended, giving an open-time of 4 to 8 hours. Physiological Effect Caustic pH value 2.0 TamCem HCA meets ASTM C-494 requirements for Type B, retarding and Type D, water reducing and retarding admixtures. Initial set Depends on dosage Final set Depends on system All at 25°C (77°F) ► Key Benefits All technical data stated herein is based on tests carried out under laboratory conditions. ■ ■ Extended application time, increased flexibility. Reduces disposal of rejected/returned concrete. www.taminternational.com / www.normet.fi Whilst any information and/or specification contained herein is to the best of our knowledge, true and accurate, we always recommend that a trial be carried out to confirm suitability of the product. TamCem HCA -V1US-10 TamCem HCA Liquid Admixture for Controlled Concrete Retardation ► ► Page 2 of 2 Tunnelling & Mining Application Guidelines ► Refer to our Technical Department for detailed information on the application of TamCem HCA. Note: TamCem HCA should be added directly at the batching plant or truck-mixer at a suggested dosage of 0.5% to 2% of the cement weight in the concrete mix. In all cases, it is recommended to carry out prior testing involving all components such as cement, flyash, Micro Silica, sand, aggregates, etc in order to optimise the workability with Tam Hyper plasticising Admixtures. Storage TamCem HCA should be stored at room temperature (min 10°C and max 35°C (50°F to 100°F), kept in closed containment until used and out of direct sunlight. If these conditions are maintained and the product packaging remains sealed, then a shelf life of 1 year can be expected. However, it is recommended that the suspension shall be mechanically agitated after longer storage and before use. TamCem HCA will freeze at approximately -2°C (28.5°F) but will return to full functionality after thawing and thorough mild mechanical agitation. The use of Tam Hydration Control Additive (HCA) is recommended to ensure the highest possible reaction with the cement lime for high early strength. Tam HCA also extends the workable time of concrete. ► All testing should be aligned to ASTM, BSEN, DIN or EFNARC standards to evaluate the best performing mixdesign against economical considerations. Please always involve your local Normet representative for support. TamCem HCA should only be used as directed. We always recommend that the Health & Safety data sheet is carefully read prior to application of the material. Our recommendations for protective equipment should be strictly adhered to for your personal protection. The Health & Safety data sheet is available upon request from your local Normet representative. ► Health & Safety Packaging TamCem HCA is available in 20 liter (5 gal) pails, 200 liter (52 gal) drums and 950 liter (250 gal) IBC tanks.
