Spring has definitely sprung and I have the fever.
I want to go out and play in my garden.
Or maybe I will stay in and play in my sewing garden, after all I
can grow flowers now with my embroidery machine and stump
work… loving it.
I am very excited to have Kids Club back at SEW Hut.
I would like to welcome Sue Schulte and Carrie Poirier
who will be our new Kids Club teachers.
They have some great ideas I think the kids will LOVE!

Needles, Threads & Maintenance
This class, free with your SEWHut purchase of either a Bernina or Janome
machine, will focus on which needles to
use, the different sizes of threads, and
combinations that work best. We will also
go over proper cleaning and oiling of your
machine and trouble shooting the most
common problems that happen, and how
you can solve them at home (because you
know, they always happen on Sunday).

BASIC SEWING 1, 2 3 and 4
Learn the basic fundamentals of sewing by choosing
from select projects such as pajama bottoms, pillows,
zipper pouches, tote bags, aprons and more. Lynne will
explain how to select and read a pattern, purchase the
proper fabric for your project, and how to prepare it before sewing. You will then lay out your fabric and cut it
out. Then you will construct your project with different
stitches on your sewing machine. Lynne will be giving each student individualized help, as well as sharing
basics with the whole class.
JANOME BASICS
Janome Basics
Come and learn the basics of
your Janome sewing machine.
Bring your machine.
It’s a hands on class.
If you do not own a machine, do not run out and buy
one, as we have machine for you to try out in class, and
we can help you choose which machine is best for you.
The series is 4 weeks and the cost is $70. There is a waiting list and once we have a spot for you we will require
a $20 deposit to hold your place. Call the shop to be put
on the waiting list.
LET’S QUILT & DINE
Put yourself in this picture: You feel like
getting out your latest project, doing the final piecing so you can start on
the quilting. You sit down at your machine and the phone rings. The dryer
goes off. Then the UPS man is at your door. It’s lunch time. Sit down again
only to have to go chase after the dog, wash the lunch dishes and answer
the phone again. Next thing you know it’s dinner time and you haven’t
sewn a stitch!
Instead, come to LET’S QUILT, or LET’S QUILT and DINE where pizza is
served. Expert help is available from design decisions, color choices, binding techniques, to whatever else you’re working on. And don’t forget your
snacks and spill-proof cup!

COMPUTER SEMINARS
This month we will be working with the Version 7 Software.
Sunday the 13th is a fast paced class for those with more experience .
Thursday the 18th will be taught at a slower paced for those just getting started
using the software. Please print out the lesson handout. Don’t forget your
dongle, power cord and mouse.

WORKSHOP V7 SOFTWARE AND BERNINA EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE
Use BERNINA Embroidery Software 7 to create a beautiful 3 dimensional flower. Then take a pre-digitized butterfly design and give it 3-D wings. Then stitch them out
on your machine. Butterfly design included with class fee.
BERNINA STITCH REGULATOR
How does the BSR work?
With the aid of technology, the BSR system reads (similar to a
wireless mouse) the surface of the fabric under the presser foot.
A sensor transfers information to the sewing machine as the
material is moved. The sewing machine calculates the necessary
sewing speed in order to sew consistent stitches according to the
set stitch length.. A slower needle movement and motor speed is
required if the material is moved slowly. A faster needle movement and motor speed is needed for faster fabric movement.
In The BSR in tandem with the sewing machine, automatically
adjusts to the sewer’s speed for even and consistent stitching.
In this class we will share tips and tricks to successful free motion stitching. Experience your BERNINA Stitch Regulator hands on! We will also discuss the use of a variety
of different threads and you will learn how to adjust tensions accordingly!
