IRRIGATION ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
The erstwhile “All India Drip Manufacturers Association”
(Dripma) was dissolved and new body “Irrigation Association of
India” was formed in 1998. It is the Association of all Drip, Sprinkler
and other pressurized irrigation system manufacturers in India. The
Irrigation Association of India is registered under Societies Act and
also as a Public Trust. It’s registered office is at Pune. IAI is attached
to MCCIA & FICCI. IAI has at present 110 above members on all
India basis.
Following states Chapters are connected with the association as
follows: Karnataka, Maharashtra,, Madhya Pradesh, Tamilnadu,
Gujrat,Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, North Region, East Region
IMPORTANT RULES, REGULATIONS AND BYLAWS
Rule 13
All Regular members who have paid subscription till
31st March of that year are eligible to vote.
Rule 14
E C Members – There shall be 10 elected members and
3 Co-opted members as per Rule 21. Immediate past
President shall be ex-officio member of E. C
Rule 15
Office bearers to be elected as per Rule 20, by and
amongst E C members, are:

-4 Numbers (For North, south,
West & East regions)
The Hon. Secretary -1 Number
The Jt. Secretary & -1 Number
Treasurer
Rule 16
Executive Committee members and office bearers shall
hold office for two years. No member shall continue to
be member of Executive Committee beyond 2 years
without election by General meeting.
Rule 17
No member shall hold office of President for more than
consecutive 2 years.
Rule 23b
EC member absent for 3 consecutive meetings shall
cease to hold office.
Rule 23c
EC meeting shall be once in 2 months.
Rule 23d
The Quorum of EC should be 1/3 of total strength or 5
members of the Committee whichever is lower.
Rule 24
EC can appoint Executive Director / Executive
Secretary.
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION:
1.
The
Association
is
voluntary,
non-profit
organization formed to promote, development, proper use and
acceptance of irrigation equipment for all possible applications,
to promote water and soil conservation and more economical
crop production through the use of irrigation, to conserve
energy through efficient design and operation of irrigation
systems: to enhance the environment by expanding efficient
use of irrigation for landscape maintenance, dust and erosion
control; to collect and disseminate information regarding
irrigation and value to members of the Association, to allied
industries and to the public; to acquaint public and private
agencies, institutions and organizations with development in
the industry and the part the industry occupies in the econo9my
and development of the Nation,; to conduct educational
programs regarding the industry and extend scholarships; to
promote research, development and extension work, to
recognize outstanding contribution in promotion of modern
irrigation systems and carry out such other lawful trade
association activities as the general object may direct.
2. To promote and develop ethical practices and standards
amongst the irrigation industries in India.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Member of Irrigation Association of India will:
1. Uphold the integrity of the Irrigation Industry.
2. Continually seek to gain respect and recognition for the industry on
the Local., State, National and International levels.
3. Improve industry products and services by encouraging research
and development.
4. Subscribe to fair and honest business practices, including the
legitimate representation of member’s capabilities and experience.
5. Follow ethical business practices in all contractual and warrant
obligations.
6. Not involve, indulge in or inspire to act directly or indirectly against
any decision taken by the Association in any form.
7. Not act in any manner or commit to any Government, Quasi
Government, Private or any agency within or outside the country,
which may jeopardize the image or working of the Association.
8. Not divulge, discuss or refer any matter of the Association to any
other outside regarding policies, decisions and programs unless
otherwise specified.
9. avoid appointing other member’s authorized dealer without
reference to other member.
10. Promote water, soil and energy conservation through efficient and
cost-effective irrigation system, design, installation and management.
11. Supply quality material as per ISI and provide after sales service to
the customers to their full satisfaction.
12. Aim to obtain ISO-9000 certification at the earliest.
13. All members to sign this code of Conduct.

SERVICES TO MEMBERS
1. Regular co-ordination with Central Government and various
State Governments and NCPAH in formulating policies as
regards subsidy procedure for disbursement, allocation of
funds, registration criteria and procedures etc.
2. Evolving code of conduct and ensuring adherence of the same
by the members.
3. Informing members of various developments in Drip and
Sprinkler Irrigation by way of bulletin.
4. Preparation of members directory
5. Collecting and creating data bank.
6. Library of magazines and books on irrigation.
7. To organize education/training/
conference/programmers/exhibitions on irrigation.
8. Formulating standards/specifications. IAI is a member of FAD17 Committee of BIS which formulates BIS specification for
MIS components.
9. To conduct Research/Technology development/Transfer of
technology.
