SUMMARY
!
Metro Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) will offer a 5-day version of its acclaimed national
leadership training in Chicago June of 2014. The training will include the core universals and skills
used by IAF affiliate organizations throughout the country. It will be useful for emerging leaders, leaders who have been involved in broad-based organizing but have yet to participate in other trainings, and
staff of member organizations.

This daytime schedule is especially geared to people in the Chicago area who choose to commute each day to the training. As is described below, reasonable accommodations can be found within
walking distance of the site.

Please note that there will be one “action” for participants to attend and evaluate. Details on the
exact locations will be provided later. There will also be reading and writing assignments, which will
need to be done in the evenings and returned the next day. You are urged to clear your calendars for the
evenings, as well as the days, so that you can fully and most effectively participate. You must attend all
sessions. No exceptions.
MEALS AND LODGING
Coffee and snacks will be provided in the morning. Lunch will be provided each day. If you
have a dietary request please indicate on your registration form.
If you are from another state or choose not to commute, we have contracted with the Sheraton
Four Points (630 N. Rush Street Chicago, IL 60611), walking distance from St. James Commons.
Rooms are $189.00 per night with a sales and occupancy tax currently at 16.4%. Self parking is $50 per
night. Please make your own reservation by calling Kimberly Wagner, on site manager, at 312-981-6614
and refer to the IAF Foundation Training Room Block. A deposit of first night’s room revenue plus tax
(“The Deposit”) is required with all reservation requests. The Deposit will be forfeited for all no-shows
and for all reservations canceled within 48 hours prior to arrival. A minimum of 8 rooms must be
booked by March 15, 2015 to maintain the rate above. If you are planning to attend the training and
stay over night please make your reservation as soon as you are able.

PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
!
St. James Commons is located in downtown Chicago on the corner of Huron and Rush at
65 E Huron St., Chicago, IL 60611.
!
Discount parking is available at The Millennium Centre parking garage located at 33 W Ontario
(which also can be entered from Ohio Street). Validation tickets provided upon request at the front desk
of St. James Commons.

All Metra lines end in downtown Chicago. Please visit www.metra.org to plan your commute.
CTA: Located 2 blocks from the red line, exit at Chicago, then south two blocks to the corner of Wabash
and Huron. The site is one block west from the 145, 146 and 151 bus lines, exit at Superior if southbound, exit at Huron if northbound.

COSTS

$300 per person for individuals who belong to members of IAF organizations, ELCA congregations
and institutions, or Chicago area Episcopal congregations and institutions.

$750 per person for individuals who do not belong to member IAF organizations or the other organizations listed above.
