This memorial award was created in 2012 to honour Suzanne and her
mahi. This award will be presented at each KUMA Annual Hui, to the
business that is perceived to align the most with the Hui theme.

Staff from Otago Business School and
Polson Higgs will jointly present the
Business Model Canvas through an interactive and practical workshop tailored
for KUMA hui participants. Osterwalder
& Pigneur (2010) defines the business
model as the rationale of how “an organisation creates, delivers, and captures
value”, and how the value entices customers to pay, returning profits to the
organisation – ensuring your business is
“Planning to Succeed”. The facilitators
will provide: 1) an overview of the Business Model Canvas - “a tool for describing, analysing, and designing business
models”; 2) examples from successful
businesses; 3) introduce an adaptation of
the canvas tailored for local Māori businesses; and finally, 4) hui participants
will be guided through the canvas to ex-

Senior Economist
Kiwbank
Donna Purdue is the Senior Economist
at Kiwibank. Donna has been forecasting, researching, and commenting on
developments in the New Zealand
economy for over 15 years and joined
Kiwibank as its Economist in March
2011. Prior to joining Kiwibank, Donna worked as a Senior Economist for
Westpac where she focused on developments in New Zealand’s household
and government sectors. She has also
worked as an Economist for the New
Zealand Institute of Economic Research, the British High Commission,
and Ord Minnett Securities. Donna has
a First Class Honours Degree in Social
Science, majoring in Economics, from
Waikato University. Her keen interest
in economics is backed by a passion
for educating others. She believes that
helping people and businesses understand what’s driving movements in interest rates, exchange rates, inflation,
and unemployment will help them
make more informed financial
decisions.

Group Activity—Nature Walk
The wildlife park is a short distance
from the Lake View Te Anau Holiday
Park. The walk follows the Lakefront
Track which begins right across the
road and follows the lakefront around
to the Wildlife Centre. The Wildlife
Centre features a range of enclosures
which feature native birds such as
Kea, Kaka, Morepork and Takahe.
The walk will take 30 minutes return,
allow additional time if you would
like to visit the Wildlife Centre.
