BIOGRAPHY/BIOGRAFIE Prof. Viktor Steiner, Free University Berlin Viktor Steiner has been Professor of Economics at the Free University of Berlin since 2002. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Linz, Austria and his Habilitation in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Frankfurt/Main. Until October 2010 he also was director of the Public Economics Department at DIW Berlin. Until September 2001 he was Head of Department "Labour Economics and Social Policy" at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany. From October 2001 to April 2002 he was Professor of Economics at the Center for Economic Studies (CES) at the University of Munich and Research Director at the ifo Institute for Economic Research. He has also worked as consultant for the European Commission, OECD, and the World Bank. His research interests are in the field of the empirical evaluation of fiscal and social policies using microeconometrics and microsimulation. He has published articles in journals such as European Economic Review, German Economic Review, Scandinavian Journal of Economics; National Tax Journal, International Tax and Public Finance, Finanzarchiv; The Review of Economics and Statistics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Empirical Economics, and Applied Economics. Prof. Dr. Viktor Steiner, Free University Berlin Prof. Dr. Viktor Steiner ist seit 2002 als Professor für Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Freien Universität Berlin tätig. Dr. Steiner promovierte an der österreichischen Universität Linz in Wirtschaftswissenschaften und schloss seine Habilitation in Volkswirtschaftslehre und Ökonometrie an der Universität Frankfurt/Main ab. Bis Oktober 2010 war er darüber hinaus als Leiter der Abteilung „Staat“ am Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) in Berlin tätig. Bis September 2001 war Dr. Steiner Leiter des Bereichs „Arbeitsmarkttheorie und Sozialpolitik“ beim Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW) in Mannheim. Von Oktober 2001 bis April 2002 war er als Professor für Volkswirtschaftslehre beim Center for Economic Studies (CES) der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München und als Forschungsdirektor am ifo Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung beschäftigt. Das Weiteren war Dr. Steiner als Konsulent für die Europäische Kommission, die OECD und die Weltbank tätig. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich Empirische Evaluation von Finanz- und Sozialpolitik durch Angewandte Mikroökonometrie und Mikrosimulation. Dr. Steiner hat bisher Artikel in, unter anderen, folgenden Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht : European Economic Review, German Economic Review, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, National Tax Journal, International Tax and Public Finance, Finanzarchiv, The Review of Economics and Statistics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Empirical Economics und Applied Economics.
