Our training room has been transformed into a super bright space filled with colour,
colour, colour! It is now a highly motivating environment decorated with our favourite

We are very pleased to announce
that we have taken on a new and
very revolutionary product, IBX. IBX
has been created by the founders of
Dadi’Oil, Famous Names’ Linda and
Jim Nordstrom. IBX is a natural nail
strengthening system and comprises
of both IBX and IBX Repair. The duo
system is the answer to damaged,
weak and peeling nails caused from

I wanted to work in an industry which
would fulfil my creativity. Even at school
I was obsessed with nails. I collected nail
polish and practiced on friends when
I was at secondary school.
Which qualifications do you hold?
NVQ2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy, Holistic
Therapies, Stress Management,
Teaching qualifications and Assessors/
Verifiers Award.
What does being an
educator involve?
On the surface it’s teaching product
knowledge, nail preparation, product
application and nail art techniques. But
it extends to sharing industry expertise,
being available to troubleshoot and I also
like to think, helping to motivate students
to continue learning and go out and get
actively involved in the industry!
What do you love most about
your job?
Meeting aspiring students who are just
starting out in the industry then seeing
them flourish after training into confident

What’s the most difficult part?
Finding the time to switch off.

When did the salon open?
My fiancé Ben and I opened our doors in January 2012.
What makes your salon different to others?
Every appointment starts with a dedicated consultation to
assess the condition of the client’s hair, skin, nails or any
needs or concerns. Our key aim is to give the client a unique
hairdressing and beauty experience. Rituals and journeys
that take the client to a tranquil place, uplift your senses
and relax your body. We run the salon and spa as if it was a
5* boutique hotel. Priding ourselves with excellent customer
care for each and every client that walks through our door,
with high end hair and beauty running alongside each other
for the ultimate indulgence.
Which nail services do you offer?
All nail treatments from manicures to pedicures. Artistic Colour
Gloss gel nails are always a popular choice. We also offer
creative cut and blow drys, styling and super services such as
hair up and bridal hair. Luxury hair treatments in our massaging
chairs and Nanokeratin/Brazilian blow drys leaving the hair
feeling amazing. Our technical team carry out a range of high
end highlights, tints and fashion colour.
What is your top beauty tip?
To keep your nails well buffed always apply the amazing Dadi’Oil

The atmosphere. Our clients always comment on how fantastic

Tools: Artistic Nail Design #7 Square Brush, Stylus Marble Tool and Headliner Brush On Clear Gel
STEP 1: PREP
• Remove non-living cuticle from the nail
plate using a metal cuticle pusher
• Shape free edge of the natural nail
• Gently remove shine from the natural
nail using the 180 side of the Artistic
Effect Buffer, in the direction of the
natural nail growth
• Remove dust
• Scrub nails with Artistic Nail Surface
Cleanser on a lint-free wipe
• Apply pH Prep to nail plate

Linda and Jim
Introducing the revolutionary new product that all nail
professionals and customers have been missing, IBX!
The newly launched product is a two part system that targets nail damage. For clients who
experience shredding, peeling and weak nails, IBX is the key product to repair all problems.
Speaking to the creators of IBX, Jim and Linda Nordstrom, we got to find out much more about
IBX and why it will change the future of sustaining natural nail quality.
What inspired you to come up with the new IBX product?
We wanted something that was totally unique and beneficial to the
nail professional and their client. We experimented with different
concepts until we came up with the concept of going into the nail
instead of on top of it… thus the project name “Iceberg”.
How did you get into the beauty industry?
Jim – Well, long story short; my father Dr Nordstrom formed
CND in 1979. I was finishing up my pre-med degree, which
included a lot chemistry so I naturally fell into the business.
My father died in 1983, so I filled the Chairman and CEO
roles from that point until 2000, when I retired. I have always
practiced the philosophy ‘listen to your customer’ which has
resulted in a great partnership with the professional industry.
In 2007 I joined Samuel and Samantha Sweet at Sweet Squared
where I am a partner, FD and board member. In 2010, Linda and
I founded Famous Names.
Linda – I became passionate about the professional nail
business upon graduating from cosmetology school, which
led me to become a Creative Nail Design Educational Sales
Consultant and recipient of Educator of the Year for two years
running. I opened the first nail salon in Rhode Island which
employed 12 techs and was a great success story. I am excited

about being back in the industry after a few years off
to be a Mum!
What are the key benefits of IBX that other products
are missing?
IBX works IN the nail and not on top. By becoming a permanent
addition to the nail plate, it adds toughness and strength to the
natural nail allowing it to grow out on its own or acting as a
‘protective shield’ under all Gel Polishes.
Do you have to be a gel wearer to use this product
or does it apply to everyone?
To everyone. It has two functions: it acts as a protective shield
for the natural nail under all gel polishes. It is also functions as
a natural nail growth system.
What do you think makes your brand stand out from
a competitor of yours?
Several things: we own and run Famous Names and are not
beholden to huge corporate parents who push for quarterly
earnings production. There is no competition for IBX as it
is a totally unique product.

What is the best thing about your job?
Passion for our industry. We have both been in it our entire
careers and it just gets better as time goes on. Our oldest
daughter Niki is joining our industry too, which we are
so excited about.
Do you think the industry has changed since you
started introducing your brands?
Jim – Not as much since we started Famous Names, but a
tremendous amount since I co-founded Creative Nail Design/
CND in 1979. The one thing that is a constant is the consumer’s
thirst for professionally applied nail services.

your career highlight over the years?
There are two. Innovating new and meaningful products and
building exceptional teams that work together. There were less
than 10 people who worked on IBX from concept to reality.
The big nail companies have more people in their marketing
departments alone!
If you could pick one product to be your favourite
what would it be?
That’s very hard. IBX is our new baby, so that has to be one.

Goodness! There are many
things that I would consider
my highlights. I’ve been lucky
enough to have many exciting
experiences and can’t really pick
out few enough to fit here!
What is your general day-to-day
life like?
No two days of mine are alike. Yesterday
I was the subject of an editorial for a
lovely magazine (so, the wrong side of
the camera!) then I went to a studio to
do some close-up hand shots. The day
before I was in a studio with a big team
doing advertising images for MAC, last
week I was flying to New York for an
advertising job and next week I’ll be
meeting some media press in a salon.
Then the fashion shows start!
What do you enjoy the most
about it?
Fortunately, the variety!
What do you dislike the most?
Unfortunately, also the variety! I rarely
know where I am one day to the next.
How do you generally start the day?
With a cup of tea and two custard
creams in bed (whatever the time
may be).
What time does your day start?
Depends what I’m doing. There is a show
I do in Paris that has a 3am call time. I
almost always drive into London so, more
often than not, I’ll be leaving home at
around 7am.
What is the last thing you do before
you finish for the day?
Pack my kit away.

What inspired you to become a nail technician?
It was all by accident. I originally just wanted to learn so I could earn some
extra money on the side of my full time job, but I have always been keen on
painting nails.
Who is your favourite high-profile client?
I don’t have a favourite as I work with so many amazing people. Off the top of my
head, Cara Delevingne, (so much fun), Eva Herzigova (we’re twins, only by birth —
as in we’re born on the same day, of the same year and in the same hour —
we always joke about it), and the gorgeous Marion Cotillard.
What is your signature manicure?
The perfect manicure! From groomed, buffed nails to natural sheer nails and the
perfectly painted nail that doesn’t require any retouching. All in quick time!
What is the best thing about your job?
I get to do what I love and get paid for it. No day is ever the same and I get to work
with so many talented people! Plus I don’t have to work every day, so the perks are
very good.
What is your must-have product?

Tell us about the highlight of your career so far.
That’s a tough one, there have been so many highlights, I can’t possibly pick just

Ambassador for the UK, my cover for Scratch Magazine. See what I mean, there
