“I took the PTLLS course to enable me to
do a First Aid Instructor Course. After
which I intend to specialise in equine specific first aid.
I thought that the course was well structured and the tutor support invaluable, I
was impressed by my own achievement as
I managed to complete the course in 3 days
plus my micro teach around working full
time for a disabled horse riding charity and
having 2 horses of my own to care for also.
My micro teach was on Makaton as I use
this during my job on a daily basis and love
using it with my clients and students.”
Bethan was a very motivated student and a pleasure to take through this qualification. Despite
having a full-time job, she still managed to produce work at a very high standard and in record
time. She is passionate about her work and this enthusiasm comes through in her writing as well
as her teaching. I wish Bethan every success in her teaching career and have no doubt that she
will do well.

What is Makaton?
“Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is
designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken
word order. With Makaton, children and adults can communicate straight away using signs and
symbols. Many people then drop the signs or symbols naturally at their own pace, as they develop
speech. For those who have experienced the frustration of being unable to communicate meaningfully or effectively, Makaton really can help. Makaton takes away that frustration and enables individuals to connect with other people and the world around them.”
