GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS WITH AN ILLNESS
Should I keep my sick student home? Here are some guidelines to help you make a decision about keeping your
child home when your child is sick. Stay home if:
√ Temperature of 100 degrees F or higher. It is a sound health practice to keep your child at home until an
elevated temperature has returned to normal for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medications.
√ Diarrhea
√ Vomiting more than 2 episodes in 24 hours.
√ Rash or sores with fever or behavior changes until a physician has determined it is not a communicable disease,
or has specified the conditions in which the student can return to school.
We hope this is helpful information. Please contact your school nurses if you have any questions.
