ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of CKIA was held on May 10th. The CKIA
board finalized the 2014 budget and discussed future improvements of our
community. With the fence project recently completed, the board elected
to focus the resources of the community on updating and improving the
appearance of the three main entrances and to create healthier landscape and
improved ground cover. This started with the board’s approval to fund new,
drought tolerant plantings at the Elizabeth entrance. If you have not seen these
plantings, please take a look the next time you use this entrance.
This Fall the board will be working on a master plan, budget, and timelines
for all entrance improvements to begin. These improvements will be made
using community dues payments. At this point we have about 60% of Cherry
Knolls residents paying annual dues of $120. These improvements benefit
every Cherry Knolls resident and the completion of the improvement depends
solely on the payment of dues. If your household has not paid 2014 dues,
please consider doing so and aiding in the improvement of all of our entrances.
GARDEN CLUB
A big thanks goes out to the Cherry
Knolls garden club who volunteered to
design and install the new plantings at the
Elizabeth entrance. Their initiative and
desire to help improve the appearance
of our community is greatly appreciated.
Please thank any of these residents for
their time and effort when you see them:
Mary Pat Adams, Carol McDaniel, Diane
Cummings, Patty Levi and Peggy Hanson
(not pictured).
JULY 4 PARTY
A final reminder that the July 4th party
(a community favorite) will take place on
Friday, July 4 starting with a parade at 9:30 a.m. followed by the party at the
pool. Thanks to the Cherry Knolls Swim Club for making the pool available to
all Cherry Knolls residents and their guests on this day.

Cherry Knolls Swim Team
The Cherry Knolls Neptunes have been having a
great swim season! With three victories under the leadership of head coach Laura Olson and assistants Molly
Smith, Shaffer Dehmlow, Emily Hecomovich, and
Austin Brumley, they are hoping for one more in their
last home meet against Homestead Farm II on Saturday
June 28. This team would not happen without all of our
team parents volunteering their time and without the
support of our Cherry Knolls neighbors. Thank you to
the community for purchasing Spaghetti Dinner tickets
for the family night on June 19 that benefits the swim
team. This event was a great success with the wonderful ambiance created by Amy Marszalek and Brett East.
Thank you also for the pledges neighbors made when
the swimmers did their Swim-a-Lap fundraising event.
Some swimmers swam close to 180 laps!
Please come down to the Fourth of July Celebration
at the pool! Many fun events will be taking place with
the parade beginning at 9:30 followed by fun at the
pool. Everyone is welcome whether you’re a member or not! Make sure to stop by the concessions for
a barbeque lunch, fancy
cupcakes and our candy
shop. All concession sales
benefit the Neptunes, so
we thank you in advance
for joining us!

Neighborhood Garage Sale:
Six Years Old and Going Strong!
On May 2 and 3, more than 80 families participated in the Cherry Knolls
Neighborhood Garage Sale and Charity Pick-Up, sponsored for the sixth year
in a row by The Steller Group of Keller Williams Realty.
The 2014 neighborhood garage sale maintained its momentum from the
previous year, drawing buyers from throughout the Metro Denver area.
“This is an excellent program and a great service provided by The Steller
Group,” said Joe Donathan, as he thanked the team for the concept and support.
Sellers who signed up to participate were highlighted on a neighborhood
map and directional signs were posted to lead shoppers to their driveways. An
additional benefit for sellers was the opportunity to send out a “wish list” to
other participants so that they could shop early with no need to leave their sites
on the sale days.
ARC once again benefited from donations of the leftovers from the sale,
collecting items from more
than 30 households, including
Carol Murphy’s. She shared,
“I just had a major kitchen
remodel done and everything
was packed up. I just had to sort
the ‘keep’ from the ‘go’ and the
timing was perfect.”
Save the date for
next year: May 1 and
2, 2015. Until then,
have an enjoyable and
clutter-free summer!

To Our Cherry Knolls Neighbors:
As Spring has come and summer is here, we see flowers and shrubs blooming, the grass
is greening and summer gardens beginning ... and we appreciate even more our beautiful,
neat and well-maintained properties and continue to see growth in value, both esthetic and
otherwise. If your property does not seem to measure up to neighbors, rest assured the
CKIA board has heard from those neighbors. All our properties should be maintained in
accordance with Covenants, to quote Property Appearance Article 10:
“ ...grounds shall be seeded, sodded, planted with grass or other ground cover ... and
maintained in a clean and attractive manner, free of litter and weeds.”
If you need clarification of this issue, please contact any of the Cherry Knolls
Improvement Association board members or your Covenants Committee. If you are a duespaid (minimal $120 annual) resident you have a Directory which includes Covenants. These
are also available from board members or on our website: www.cherryknolls.org.
Thank you for your consideration and attention.
