Barber Specialties installed the metal stud framing, sheetrock, and acoustical and metal
ceilings. Barber was always ahead of schedule and would always lend a hand even if a request
may not have been in their contract. The foreman, Anthony, did an exceptional job in framing the
Board Room soffits which had some challenges. Barber always kept the project clean, and the
quality of their work shows the pride that their crews have in doing a great job. Chris
Cadenhead, Senior Estimator/Project Manager and Alan Smith, Project Manager with Barber
Specialties, Castleberry ISD thanks you for a job well done.
Fresh Coat Painting beautifully finished the painting and plaster work on the building. The
painting contractor always is the last to finish and is always tasked with the shortest schedule to
complete a project. This project was no different, and Fresh Coat stepped up to the challenge
and worked many weekends without complaints and did their part in bringing the project in on
schedule. We applauded the staff: Jose Ramirez, Senior Paint Manager; Jairo Hernandez,
Foreman; and Jesus Walls, Owner.
Volt Electrical Systems installed the metal stud framing, sheetrock, and the electrical systems
for the new Gary S. Jones Administration Building. Volt always manned the project to stay on or
ahead of schedule even with an exceptional amount of changes that were made. When there
were problems to solve, Volt always stepped up to help to resolve the issues. They managed the
project in a safe and professional manner. Castleberry ISD would like to thank Volt Electrical
and their staff; Jamey Boudreaux & Doug Rowe, Co-owners; Phil St. Cyr, Production Manager;
Jesus Espinosa, Superintendent; and Cesar Valenzuela, Foreman.

displayed at the Administration building that
focus on learning skills in the classroom:
 REACH High School
 Joy James Elementary
Claudia Hosfelt, Math Teacher at REACH High School,
presented her bulletin board that covered three different topics:
equations, inequalities and triangles. REACH student pictures
were displayed with their work and peer comments describing the
exemplary products. This shows the use of analyzing through
peer critiquing of work and synthesizing skills by combining new
information with prior knowledge to extend learning.
Pictured: Claudia Hosfelt & REACH Principal, Wanda Mitchell
Isabel Juarez, 2nd Grade Bilingual Teacher at Joy James
Elementary, presented her students’ work from a project on
making inferences. Students worked with partners using iPads
and QRcode technology. After scanning various pictures,
students used their comprehension skills to write their inferences
based on the knowledge they already knew combined with the
evidence found in the pictures. This is a comprehension skill
that all good readers use throughout life and our second
graders, with Mrs. Juarez’s guidance, are working diligently on
mastering it at this level.
