Recruitment of Staff Nurse in Palliative Care under JIVDAYA Project Tata Medical Center (TMC), Kolkata is a state-of-the-art tertiary Comprehensive Cancer Care Center established to serve the needs of society in the eastern part of India. It is a philanthropic initiative from the House of Tata. Its mission is to promote Prevention, Early Diagnosis, Treatment, Rehabilitation and Palliation and Research for cancer patients. The Hospital, with a capacity of 167 beds will serve all sections of the Society. 50% of the beds are earmarked for free or subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections of society. The Institution's objective is to excel in service, education and research. To fulfil the above objectives TMC (For JIVDAYA Foundation Project) invites applications for the position of Project Nurse for the JIVDAYA Project on one year contract basis purely under the project payroll. About JIV DAYA Foundation: Since 2007, Jiv Daya Foundation in Dallas, Texas, has partnered with health care organizations and hospitals in India to provide improved quality treatment to patients with cancer and advanced disease. The foundation provides manpower support to organization. The foundation has provided a funding support for a trained nurse and program manager for the Department of Palliative Care and Psycho oncology. This is a fixed term project post. The duration of the project will be one year followed by extension if both the employee and employer are satisfied with the work. The role of the nurse on the project is to support the consultants in the department and help in activities for the development of the department. Qualification: GNM/BSc Nurse (with appropriate registration with nursing council of WB) Following are the job responsibilities of the nurse: 1. Attend ward rounds with the consultants: 1. Help in nursing care of the patient with the existing staff in Tata Medical Center. 2. Provide counseling support to the patients in the ward. 2. Attend emergencies with the consultant and help in care of the patient. 3. Help the consultant in the OPD; 1. Nursing care of the patients including wound management, NGT/Catherization, IV/SC insertion. (She will assist the existing nursing staff in TMC) 2. Help the consultant in providing counseling support to patients and relatives. 4. With the help of the program manager, make regular follow up calls to patients. 5. To make bereavement calls and with the help of the consultant provide bereavement support to relatives attending the OPD. 6. Maintain the record of the OPD/IPD/Emergency services provided by the department. Also document the telephone support provided. 7. Prepare reports and send the reports to the foundation after seeking necessary approvals from the PI. 8. Actively help in the departmental training programs. 9. The candidate should have good knowledge of computers and should know to work on Microsoft Word/Excel.
