Samanta Founder, KIIT and KISS Constant pursuit of knowledge has made KIIT what it is today; a sprawling University remarkable for its ability to constantly evaluate the direction education should take, and quickly adapt to the needs of the industry and the society at large. For example, this year, the institute's dual degree programme students, studying engineering courses so far, will start attending management classes and learn the nuances of managing, while continuing to study their engineering papers. The synergies accruing from having so many programmes is immense and it is the endeavour of the University to leverage such synergies to constantly innovate and create new knowledge. KSOM has always been an institution that the University is proud to have in its fold. Ranking among the top in Eastern India, and among the premier B-schools of the country, the school has a long illustrious legacy of 21 years, producing capable managers many among whom are occupying senior management positions in the industry. As the school begins its 22nd year journey, a milestone in itself, it's my great pleasure to invite you to visit the campus for recruitment and provide an opportunity to the students to prove their mettle. The KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, has recently been accredited by NAAC of UGC in 'A' Grade (Highest CGPA among self-financing universities), underlining the excellence the University has brought about in the field of education. It's a best-in-class university spread over 25 sq. km. of land accommodating 20 lush green sprawling campuses with a built-up area of 1,00,00,000 sq.ft. The university has 28 constituent schools offering more than 100 programs. The quality teaching and research make KIIT one of the most promising centres of excellence. With more than 20,000 students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Engineering, Computer Application, Management, Rural Management, Law, Bio-technology, MBBS, M.D., BDS, Nursing, Fashion Technology, Cinema & Media Studies and Language, KIIT stands out as one of the finest Universities of India declared under section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956. KIIT educational conglomerate is unique in offering a wide spectrum of academic programmes from Kindergarten to Postgraduate level, earning it a place in the Limca Book of Records. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Akin to a second Shantiniketan in India, the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a novel and unique venture of the KIIT Group of Institutions, offers formal and vocational education to thousands of neglected and deprived children from tribal societies living in inaccessible and remote corners of the state. Being under the KIIT University, it offers technical and higher educational facilities, right from the KG to PG level. A branch of KISS is now already functioning in New Delhi and several others are coming up in the state of Odisha and nearby states. Creating an environment for equitable educational opportunities has always been a focus of the KISS Education and Livelihood Program. In this respect, KISS constantly strives to enrich the learning environment while also reserving the rich tribal cultural heritage. 3 The KIIT University Message from the Founder Dr. A. Tech + MBA 2010 - 2015 batch from the KIIT School of Management, Bhubaneswar. KSOM arguably one of the best equipped institutions in the field of Management education is certainly a B-school with a difference. Established in 1993 as Institute of Business Administration and Training (IBAT), the institution has witnessed constant transformation making it one of the leading institutions in the field of Management education. The MBA course as well as the dual degree leading to B. Tech + MBA, certified as ‘A’ grade by NBA & NAAC, are administered under the able professorship of a high calibre faculty. My team of faculty members comprises of more than two thirds Ph.D.s and more than a quarter with an IIM education. The unique experiment of the dual degree B. Tech & MBA has thus far proved to be an extremely successful one. This year is the first outgoing batch of 117 boys & girls from 2010 - 2015 batch. In addition, 232 regular MBA students will pass out of the program. While respecting the students’ and the industry’s wish to create specialization stream in the second year, we have made an attempt to provide a broad-based Management education whereby every student could pursue electives from areas other than his chosen streams as well. In our considered view, this would lead to a greater appreciation of multidiscipline management practice. We shall commence the placement season 2014 - 15 on October 11, 2014. I once again wish each one of you a great year ahead and an extremely rewarding placement season 2015. 5 Prof. N. L. Mitra received his M.Com, LL.M. and Ph.D. from Calcutta University. Though most management schools follow the same practice, there are several reasons why KSOM's programme stands out: Highly rigorous programme where the final report is evaluated at three levels and feedback provided Students' presentation of the internship work to a panel of faculty members Fortnightly review and evaluation of progress by assigned faculty mentor Majority of the students are hired by reputed corporate houses via the institution's placement system as opposed to students choosing a company outside of the institutional system Authentication of internship work by the industry mentor Additionally at KSOM the internship is of 8 credits, forming a significant part of students’ overall academic credits. The students, therefore, work on quite challenging - and these are often live projects that help them familiarize with the corporate culture and the demands of today's business. 25 Kamesh Venkata Chivukula PGDM (XIMB) Experience: Academic-6 years, Corporate15 years Area: Marketing Management Joydeep Biswas B.
