G/SG/N/11/JOR/4/Suppl.2 13 October 2014 (14-5793) Page: 1/2 Committee on Safeguards Original: English NOTIFICATION PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 9, FOOTNOTE 2 OF THE AGREEMENT ON SAFEGUARDS JORDAN (Bars and Rods of Iron and Steel) Supplement The following communication, dated 10 October 2014, is being circulated at the request of the Delegation of Jordan. _______________ In accordance with Article 9.1, footnote 2 of the Agreement on Safeguards, Jordan hereby submits its notification by providing the amended list of developing countries excluded from the imposition of the safeguard measure on Bars and Rods of Iron and Steel i. - The reference to the WTO document that notified the Members about the initial action under footnote 2 to Article 9.1; (G/SG/N/8/JOR/8-G/SG/N/10/JOR/8-G/SG/N/11/JOR/4) dated 13 February 2013. (G/SG/N/8/JOR/8/Suppl.1-G/SG/N/10/JOR/8/Suppl.1-G/SG/N/11/JOR/4/Suppl.1) 1 July 2013 (G/SG/N/8/JOR/8/Suppl.1/Corr.1-G/SG/N/10/JOR/8/Suppl.1/Corr.1G/SG/N/11/JOR/4/Suppl.1/Corr.1) dated 8 July 2013. ii. if applicable, names of the countries which are dropped from the list of developing countries to which the safeguard measure does not apply pursuant to Article 9.1, the list of the countries remaining on the list, the individual and collective import shares of the developing countries remaining on the list, and the date on which the safeguard measure applies to the countries dropped from the list; The National Production Protection Directorate (NPPD) -the competent authority at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply- analysed the volume of imports of the products concerned after imposing the safeguard measure. The analysis shows an increase of imports share originated from Egypt beyond 3% of the total imports of the products concerned. Pursuant to Article 9.1, footnote 2 of the Agreement on Safeguards, and Article 38 of the Jordanian Regulation on Safeguard of National Production No. (55) of the year 2000, the list of developing countries will be amended by dropping Egypt from the list starting from 15 October 2014. The amended list of developing countries to which the measure does not apply is attached to this notification.
