The role includes, but is not limited to: • Work with Crown Counsel, the RCMP, the Provincial Courts and BC Corrections to develop a viable alternative measures program • Guide community members through the Criminal Justice System – from arrest to release • Liaise with the Education Director, the Health Director, Counselors, RCMP, Crown, Defense and court personnel when guiding community members through the Criminal Justice System • Research on and develop community justice initiatives that are relevant to Tsay Keh Dene • Act as a liaison between the Criminal Justice system and the community of Tsay Keh Dene • Coordinate the Restorative Justice Society with the goal of building a functioning compliment to the Criminal Justice System • Provide training and orientation to the Restorative Justice Society members • Provide support and advice to the Restorative Justice Society • Chair workshops on community and restorative justice • Lead the Restorative Justice Society to develop community policing and crime prevention projects Job Requirements: • Degree in a social or justice related field preferred, or 5+ year’s equivalence in experience and relevant course work • Knowledge of the Indian Act • Knowledge of Court settings, protocols and routines • Knowledge of criminal justice system and alternate methods for administration of justice such as Restorative Justice, Community Justice, Traditional Justice Theories and Models • Knowledge of records management methods • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong work relationships • Criminal records check clearance To apply, please email your resume with a cover letter stating your salary expectation, to Karin Fidler, Executive Assistant via email [email protected] or fax 250-562-8899
