What your clients should do next…
1. Pay their premium to activate coverage - Before members can use their ID card for health
services, they MUST make the first payment no later than January 31, 2014.
• Visit a walk-in center
• Mail in their coupon with payment
• Call the Customer Service number on the back of their ID card to make a payment by phone
2. Choose a doctor – Let your clients know that it’s a good idea to choose a primary care physician
who’s responsible for providing and coordinating your health care. To choose a primary care physician,
members can do the following:
• Go to bcbsm.com and click on Find a Doctor
• Call the Customer Service number on the back of their ID card
3. ID card clarification - Some of your clients may have received more than one ID card. The correct ID
card can be easily identified by using the Alpha prefix chart below:

Our customer service area has been experiencing extremely high call volumes and it may be difficult for your
clients to call in to make a payment. To avoid long hold times we recommend customers use alternative
payment methods such as:

eBilling: Advise your clients to register for a bcbsm.com account. Once registered your client
can sign up for eBilling by logging into their member account.
Online banking: Make online payments through their financial institution. Make sure they
provide and verify their 16-digit BCBSM account number, which may have changed if they had
individual coverage with BCBSM in 2013.
