Dear Parents, Carers and Children, Welcome to the first newsletter of the half term. On Friday we held a special remembrance service led by our children and the local branch of the British Legion. Next week, to mark the centenary of World War One the children will be taking part in a range of activities. This will include the creation of our own wall hanging honouring the fallen in particular those who attended Colley Lane. Library Development: The major building work has now been completed providing us with a large open space on the first floor for our new library and gallery. Mrs Horton is busy talking to children and staff about the details of the final design which sounds very exciting. Thanks to our PTA and all your generous contributions we will be able to stock the new library with £5000 worth of new books, thank you for this fantastic support. Harvest Thanks: We have received a certificate from the Black Country Food Bank thanking us for our recent contribution. Thanks to your generosity they will be able to support eleven families and four individuals for three days. We have made a difference. Sporting Success: I am very proud to report we have been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Silver Award. This is in recognition of the school’s commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive sport in 2013/14. I would like to thank the children and our P.E. leaders Mrs Dubberley, Miss Carbines, Mrs Bevan, Mr Williams and Windsor High School for making this possible. The Gold award will be our next target. Best wishes, J.K. White Head teacher Year 1 Autumn Focus Day Wednesday 5th November In our classes we thought about Autumn and then went for an Autumn walk in the glade as a year group. During the rest of the day we did art and craft activities based on our Autumn theme: Looking for signs of Autumn in the glade. “We went outside and looked for red & orange leaves” - Grace We made hedgehogs out of clay…. …and some of us used the leaves we collected to make our own leaf print picture. We also made a hedgehog picture using Autumn colours. Could we remind you that if you have any shoeboxes to be returned for the Christmas shoebox appeal could you return them to school by Thursday 13th November.
