BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN’S VIDYASHRAM NIRD CAMPUS : RAJENDRANAGAR : HYDERABAD-500 030 ACTIVITIES – JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2014 Part-A: SCHOOL ACTIVITIES I. INTER SCHOOL COMPETITIONS: SPORTS & GAMES: 1. II MK’S INTER SCHOOL CRICKET TOURNAMENT (UNDER 15): Fourteen students from classes IX & X participated in II MK’s Inter school Cricket tournament 2014-15 (UNDER-15 category) organized by Delhi Public School, Nacharam from 10 th July to 20th July 2014. 2. Badminton – Little Champion 2014: Mast. Minnat Dhani & Manan Pathak of class IX & Mast.Daulat Dhani of class VIII participated in Boys singles & doubles under -15 category ‘Times Badminton – Little Champion 2014’ organized by NMDC, Hyderabad in association with Times of India on 3 rd August 2014. Mast. Minnath Dhani won the Boys doubles under-15 and received a certificate , memento and Badminton kit. Manan Pathak and Daulat Dhani received participation certificates. 3. Mast.K.Saketh of class VIIB received a Gold Medal and Mast.Y.Akshay Reddy of class VIIIB received a certificate in XXIX National Shotokam Karate Tournament held at GHMC Indoor Stadium, Amberpet, Hyderabad. 4. Hyderabad Inter School Sports Championship: Mast.Minnat Dhani of class IX & Mast.Daulat Dhani of class VIII participated in the Hyderabad Inter School Sports Championship for Boys & Girls held at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium, Hyderabad from 14.08.2014 to 15.08.2014. Mast.Minnath Dhani of IX class was the winner and Mast.Daulat Dhani of VIII class stood in 1st position. 5. 21st GOLDEN MILE RUN-2014: Mast.Royal Deep Singh of class X & Kum.Diya Neel Kaur of class V participated in 21st Golden Mile Run-2014 organized by ATHLETICS COACHING ACADEMY in association with the HYDERABAD DISTRICT ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION under the Auspices of TELANGANA ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION held at Osmania University, Hyderabad on 28th September 2014 and received participation certificates. 6. CBSE SKATING SOUTH ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET: Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi conducted SKATING South Zone Championship Meet from 28th to 30th September 2014 at DRS International School, Gundlapochampally, Hyderabad. Kum.B.Vijetha of class VIIIB, Kum.S.Honeytha Reddy of class IV, Kum.D.Sushmita Sree of class IV and Mast.S. Shri Ram Gopal Reddy of class VII of our school participated in Skating under 14, Under-8, Under 10 & under 12 years age groups Time Trial Road Race respectively and stood at 5th and 9th places . ESSAY WRITING/QUIZ/ DRAWING /DEBATE ETC., 7. HINDI SAHITYA UTSAV: 10 of our students from classes VI to X participated in “HINDI SAHITYA UTSAV” Literary Fest 2014 organized by Glendale Academy, Hyderabad on 5th August 2014. Mast.T.R.Bhargav Srinivas of class IX stood in 1st position in essay writing competition and received a certificate and memento. The other students received participation certificates. 8.IDF AWARDS: Our school received IDF Best Partner Award for 201314 from Indian Development Foundation in its Grants/Awards function for Andhra Pradesh Region held on 2nd August 2014 at a grand Public function at “Kulapati Munshi Sadan” 5-9-1105, Basheerbagh, King Koti Road, Hyderabad for the schools excellent participation and support extended to IDF during the year 2013-14. Principal Mr.B.Ravi Kiran and Smt.P.Satyavani, teacher co-ordinator for IDF were presented with Social Action Awards for resource generation and social participation with Indian Development Foundation’s national health programmes. 14 students also won medals for generating huge amounts for Leprosy/TB eradication. 9. SILICON ANDHRA – GUINNESS WORLD RECORD: Mast.Velluva Ruchir Nandan of class VIII and Kum.Velluva Rinvitha Nandan of class V received certification of participation in the largest Kuchipudi dance “Maha Brinda Natyam” which consisted of 5,794 participants. This was organized by Silicon Andhra under the title ‘Third International Kuchipudi Dance Convention’ at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India on 25th December 2012. This has entered the GUINNESS Book of WORLD RECORDS. 10.HINDI DAY CELEBRATIONS : NIRD conducted Elocution & Essay writing competitions for Hindi and Non-Hindi students in connection with Hindi Day celebrations. The prizes for the winners were given away on 26th September 2014 at NIRD Auditorium by Dr.M.V.Rao, IAS, Director General, NIRD & Smt.G.Padmasree Rao, President, NIRD Mahila Mandali. 11. NAVNEET MASTER STROKE-ALL INDIA DRAWING COMPETITION-2014: 18 best drawings under A, B & C groups prepared by our students were sent to Navneet Publications India Ltd., Secunderabad towards participation in Navneet Master Stroke – All India Drawing Competition-2014. Results awaited. 12. PAINTING COMPETITION ON PRESERVATION OF OZONE CELL: Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change conducted painting competition for the school children on the occasion of 20th International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Mast.K.Sandeep Sandilya of X class won Consolation prize in the Painting competition. He received a cash prize of Rs.7,500/- , a memento and a certificate from Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister, Environment, Forests and Climate Change on 16th September 2014 in a prize distribution function organized at Hotel Marriot, Hyderabad . 13. EARTHIAN PROGRAMME: Rishit Bhat, Kaviya Nirullah and K.Veena of VIII class participated in Painting, Poetry and Slogan writing competitions organized by Centre for Environment Education, Andhra Pradesh in connection with Earthian programme and won prizes. II. INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS : A. School conducted the following inter house competitions for our students as per the school diary schedule: a)Telugu/Hindi Story telling competition for I to IV classes b) One minute talk for V to VIII classes c) Elocution for IX & X classes d) Solo singing for classes I to X. e)Identifying the hidden pictures & English story telling for I to IV classes f) Flower arrangement for V to VIII classes g) Raksha Bandhan making for IX & X classes h) English one minute talk for V & VI classes i) English Elocution for VII to X classes j) Hindi/Telugu recitation for LKG & UKG classes k) Hindi/Telugu recitation for I to IV classes l) Hindi/Telugu Elocution for V to VIII classes m) Hindi/Telugu Essay writing for IX & X classes B.CELEBRATIONS: 1. GURUPURNIMA: On 11th July, 2014, “Guru Poojotsavam” was celebrated on account of “Guru poornima” in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidyashram. Gayatri Homam was performed by Smt.T.Vaishno Devi, a teacher of our school. Our Principal Shri B.Ravi Kiran , teachers and students participated in the Homam. It was a grand celebration amidst Veda mantras. The entire school echoed with Gayatri mantra. 2. INVESTITURE CEREMONY: a)Investiture ceremony of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidyashram for the academic year 2014-15 was held on 5th July 2014. Dr.M.V.Rao, IAS, Director General, NIRD & Co-Chairman of school Governing Body was the Chief Guest and Smt.G.A.Padma Sri , President of NIRD Mahila Mandali was the Guest of honour. The programme started with Vedic prayer. Our beloved Principal Shri B.Ravi Kiran welcomed the guests and the parents. The members of school Apex body and House Prefects introduced themselves to the Chief Guest Dr.M.V.Rao, IAS, DG,NIRD. They were theninvested with their privileges and responsibilities. b) Our school magazine “VIDYA DEEP” for the academic year 2013-14 was released by Dr.M.V.Rao,IAS, Director General, NIRD & Co-Chairman of school G.B. c)12 students out of 37 from our class X students secured 10/10 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). On this auspicious occasion, these 12 students received 10/10 CGPA certificates from Dr.M.V.Rao, IAS,DG,NIRD. d)Principal and the school teachers of class X received appreciation letters from Smt.Smriti Zubin Irani, Hon’ble Minister, Human Resource Development, Govt.of India and CBSE appreciating the teachers’ role as a model academician and stellar performance of the students in the AISSE -2014 examination. These appreciation letters were given away to Principal & the teachers by Dr.M.V.Rao, IAS,DG,NIRD. This programme concluded with a small cultural programme followed by Vote of Thanks. 3.FANCY DRESS COMPETITION: Fancy dress competition was conducted for the students of classes LKG (Birds & Animals) & UKG (Dresses of th different states of India) on 26 July 2014. Mrs.G.A.Padma Sree, President, NIRD Mahila Mandali graced the occasion. It was also attended by many parents. The competition was very colourful with students dressed as Birds & Animals and in regional attire . The winners were given prizes on the Independence Day. 4. CELEBRATION OF RAMZAN: We celebrated Ramzan festival in our school on 28.07.2014 in the morning assembly. All Muslim students presented a skit on Ramzan. 5. INDEPENDENCE DAY: 68th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and pleasure in our school to pay tributes to the leaders who had sacrificed their lives to free the nation and to show their gratitude and patriotism towards the motherland, INDIA. The Chief guest Dr. M.V.Rao, IAS, Director General of NIRD, Co-Chairman of school Governing body and Chairman of school managing committee, Smt. G.A. Padma Sri, president of NIRD Mahila mandali, and other dignitaries and invitees were welcomed on to the dias with guard of honour. In his speech, Dr.M.V.Rao praised all the staff and the students for their excellent performance. The winners were given away the prizes on this day. 6. TEACHERS’S DAY: Teachers’ day was celebrated in the school on 05.09.2014. During the Morning session, the students of class X organized and managed the classes. Teachers took an Oath on this occasion. Lunch was provided to all the staff members by the student-teachers. The student-teachers entertained rest of the school children and the staff by conducting various educational activities such as games, songs, dances & quiz. Webcast of Prime Minister Shri Modiji’s interaction with the students on the occasion of Teacher’s day was arranged to the students of classes IX & X and staff members in the Computer lab from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. 7. DUSSEHRA: Dussehra was celebrated in the school with lot of enthusiasm. After the school prayer, articles were read out on the importance of Dussehra festival and also about Batkamma. Children sang melodious songs on Gauri Devi, Mahishasura Mardhini. Then, VIII & IX class children performed a dance for the song “AKHILANDESHWARI”. KG children also played Batkamma. K.Meghana & K.Srinidhi of class IX and Ruchir Nandan of class VIII performed dance for the song “Aigirinandini”. The programme ended with a melodius song on Goddess Saraswathi. PART-B: GUEST LECTURES/SEMINARS 1. PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT SESSION: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidyashram, NIRD Campus has invited Swami Bodhamayanandaji from Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad to educate the young minds from VII to X classes on Personality Development on 09.07.2014. Swami Bodhamayananadaji englightened the students on personality Development. and inspired 2. AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON SORGHUM PRODUCTS: On 16/07/2014, Dr. Dayakar Rao, Director, Directorate of Sorghum, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad organized an awareness programme on the significance of Sorghum. They interacted with the students and also distributed some samples of Biscuits & Chuduva which they prepared with Jawar to the students.
