Realign Tilt Rod And Fabric Carriers Difficulty Level: Moderate Procedure 12 Parts Needed Tools Needed None Flat Blade Screwdriver Needlenose Pliers White Lithium Grease And Brush Before You Begin • Remove the sheers from the headrail and set aside. • Remove the headrail from the brackets and place on a clean flat surface. Wand Hook Cover NOTE: See your Luminette® owner's guide for the procedures. Active End Cap Remove Wand Hook The wand hook connects the wand to the worm gear. The wand hook cover secures the hook in place (see Figure 1). 1. Slide the wand hook cover over the hook to release the wand (see Figure 2), then slide the wand off the hook. Wand Hook Worm Gear Wand If the hook is bent, use needlenose pliers to manipulate the wand hook cover and hook. Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 2. Slide the wand hook cover off the hook and remove the hook (see Figure 3). Remove Active End Cap Cover 1. Insert a flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the active end cap cover and gently pry up (see Figure 4). Slide the cover off straight. NOTE: Do not insert the screwdriver blade into the rectangular opening on the top of the end cap. Turn clockwise and pull up on the worm gear to separate it from the tilt drive gear (see Figure 5). Remove the worm gear and set aside. Tilt Drive Gear Worm Gear 2. Slide the tilt drive gear off the tilt rod (see Figure 6) and set aside. Realign Tilt Rod And Fabric Carriers 1. Remove the tilt rod fully (see Figure 7). 2. Slide the fabric carriers to the active end cap side(s) of the rail (for side stack). 3. Align the tilt reduction pinion clips so that they are parallel to the SofTrak™ rod (see Figure 9). The long arm of the fabric carriers should face the right end of the headrail. NOTE: The backs of all fabric carriers must be aligned. If a fabric carrier is not aligned, completely rotate the pinion clip in both directions until it clicks and realigns with the others. Figure 6 Figure 5 Remove Tilt Rod 4. Place a length of tape along the backs of the pinion clips to stabilize the fabric carriers (see Figure 9). Check again that all carriers are aligned. Align the tilt rod so the half-moon side faces the front of the headrail, then slowly push the tilt rod through each fabric carrier and seat it in the large hole in the opposite side end cap (see Figures 10 and 11). CAUTION: The half-moon side must face the front of the headrail for proper operation. 6. Align the tilt drive with the gear teeth on the tilt rod, then slide the tilt drive gear onto the tilt rod (see Figure 12). 7. Remove the tape, then rotate the tilt rod to check the pinion clip alignment. Figure 10 Insert Tilt Rod Tape Figure 11 Figure 12 Reinstall Gears 1. Insert the shaft of the worm gear into the hole next to the tilt drive gear. Turn the worm gear counterclockwise so that its teeth interlock with the teeth of the tilt drive gear (see Figure 13); turn until it is fully seated on the active end cap (see Figure 14). Before installing the cover, check that the cords operate smoothly over the gears, and are not tangled or twisted. 2. Place the active end cap cover over the gears and align the grooves on the cover with the tabs on the bulkhead assembly (see Figure 15). 3. Slide on the cover until it snaps into place (see Figure 16). Align grooves with tabs Figure 15 Reinstall Wand Hook 1. Insert the hook into the worm gear. 2. Slide the wand hook cover over the hook. NOTE: Be sure the cords do not become twisted. Figure 16 3. Attach the flat section of the wand to the bottom of the hook (see Figure 17a). 4. Pull the wand hook cover tightly over the wand (see Figure 17b). 5. Test the carriers to make sure they are all properly aligned. Reinstall Headrail and Sheers Once satisfied that the cord is working properly and the tension is good, reinstall the headrail and sheers. NOTE: See your Luminette® owner's guide for the procedures.
