The Bankruptcy Skills Workshop is unique because it features separate panel discussions by the United States Bankruptcy Judges of the Southern District of Florida, Chapter 7 Panel Trustees, Standing Chapter 13 Trustees, Staff Counsel for the Florida Bar, Clerk of Court, and seasoned debtor and creditor counsel. Local practice in the Southern District of Florida is the focus of this year’s program. The Judges’ panel highlights recent decisions within each division of the Court. The Loss Mitigation Mediation Program (“LMM”) features an indepth discussion on how to successfully mediate debtor-creditor disputes and manage client expectations. 8 AM – 4 PM The Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 panels present the Standing Chapter 13 Trustees, Chapter 7 Panel Trustees, and Assistant United States Trustee staff counsel. Each panel reviews best practice, procedures, and issues unique to the particular chapter. Skilled lawyers discuss how to effectively represent debtors and creditors in Chapter 7 and 13 cases.
