Job Specification Title: LTI Assistant Co-ordinator Responsible to: Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company TEO Overall purpose of the job: This position is funded by MSLETB under a Local Training Initiative (LTI) and is managed by Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company TEO, which is the sponsor organisation. This position is full-time and is based in Foxford. Background The Local Training Initiative is a project-based training programme targeted at people who are unemployed. The overall purpose of the programme is to assist learners achieve a FETAC Level 5 Major Award in Cultural and Heritage Studies within the National Framework of Qualifications to facilitate progression to further learning or employment. MSLETB provides support in the form of training allowances for participants and grants for Co-ordinator and Assistant Co-ordinator materials and administration. The successful candidate will be required to tutor adults of varying ages at FETAC Level 5 in the following modules: Archaeology Local History Folklore and Ethnology Heritage Appreciation of Irish Culture Excellent computer skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential, as is practical experience of training adult learners to FETAC Level 5 or 6 standard with a minimum 2 year’s experience. Please note that only candidates with a relevant teaching qualification, a third level qualification (Degree Level) will be considered. Principle Activities: - Assist with duties and plans set by the LTI Co-ordinator Provision of training as required to LTI Trainees Mentoring Trainees Monitoring and guiding the progression of Trainees from LTI to employment or further Education/Training Familiar with FETAC Framework Developing and delivering Cultural and Heritage modules in line with FETAC requirements Compliance with MSLETB reporting requirements Assisting the co-ordinator in the Administration and budget management of overall Programme - Assisting in the Management of the current Folklore Collection and its development in the future. Terms and Conditions of Employment The appointment will be a full time contract for twelve months and is subject to MSLETB funding. There is an urgent start date. The salary will be based on the MSLETB LTI Assistant Co-ordinator Salary Scale. Annual leave of 21 days per annum plus public and bank holidays will apply.
