We hope that you were able to meet with all your student’s teachers to discuss their academic progress. We encourage you to monitor your child’s attendance and academic progress using eSembler. This program can be accessed by visiting http://grades.lake.k12.fl.us . There you will find an online tutorial on how to use the system to monitor student progress. We continue to hold high expectations for behavior and attendance at South Lake High School. The full potential for academic growth is only possible when students are in class as often as possible when they are not ill. Please encourage all of our eagles to attend class every day! Again, thank you for continuing to work with us to provide the very best educational environment we can for our students to produce outstanding results. We encourage you to contact your students’ teachers for available times to meet with you to discuss students’ progress at any time throughout the year. We will continue to raise the standard of excellence at South Lake High School in order to achieve our goal of being recognized as one of the premier high schools in the state of Florida. who’s who at south lake Principal Robert McCue Assistant Principals I Kim Updike Donna Jesaitis Assistant Principal II Linda Nichols Steve Clemons Guidance Counselors Pam Campbell Judy Mitchell Cherie Burgess Yours in Education, Rob McCue Telephone: 352/394-2100 Fax: 352/394-1972 Please visit South Lake High School’s website: www.slheagles.com To download a PDF version of this newsletter, go to http://academypublishing.com/schools/southlake/southlake.php Paren ts or G u ard ia ns 2 All visitors to the school need to check in at the front office before heading to any offices. Mrs. Burgess’s goal was to provide a safe place where students could share their dual enrollment experiences. Probing questions such as, “How did you learn about dual enrollment? Are there differences between your AP and Dual Enrollment classes? Did taking dual enrollment classes affect your high school schedule? Was the checklist easy to follow?, were discussed at the meeting. Mrs. Burgess states, “We must engage our students and listen to their ideas if we are to truly provide a college and career ready culture. Once students have experienced and mastered a process, they become the experts. It’s community that matters – students helping students. Our DE enrollment students will serve as mentors to potential DE students.” Jessica Delgado states, “The opportunity itself I believe will have a great impact on your future and current dual enrollment students and I am looking forward to see what comes of this new effort. The feedback we received from our students was wonderful.” nro al E Slhs Counselor Holds Open Forum With 11Th Grade Dual Enrollment (de) Students 4 Hunger in Ame rica Hunger in America is not a thing of the past..
