CUSOURCE® Employee Training eClass (ILT) Advanced Business Lending (EMP-LVF-ADBLE01-ILE) The eClass is comprised of five independent pre-work sessions and five 90-minute group online sessions. (See Page 2 for additional details.) As the capstone course of the Business Lender Accreditation program, this intense, case-based eClass focuses business lenders on more complex deals including the non-traditional SME borrower and syndicated lending. Through the use of exercises and case studies, the course provides the knowledge and skills required to meet the challenges facing individuals with a more senior level of responsibility. Registrants should come prepared to participate fully. This course will equip you to: Match the borrowing needs of a corporate borrower with the appropriate debt structure. Evaluate sophisticated lending structures and risks. Define key terms in loan agreements such as: representations and warranties, covenants and conditions precedent. Analyze a business structure and identify risk profiles to determine credit worthiness including: the quality of security, the importance of registering charges, the critical role of negative pledges, credit issues associated with guarantees and how to evaluate the value of a letter of credit. Identify unique lending and risk challenges such as: the relationship between growth and risk, the impact of environmental risk, alternate sources of financing, the risks around bridge financing, the opportunities and challenges related to non-conventional lending. Identify considerations and issues associated with lending to complex legal structures including lending to groups and to income trusts. Identify the concepts and process involved in syndicated lending such as: the importance of the syndicated loan market, how syndicated lending facilitates the transfer of credit risk, assessing the attractiveness of syndicated lending for both lenders and borrowers, determining an appropriate syndicated lending structure and understanding the stages involved in the syndicated lending process. Handle problem loans and defaults including: the warning signals indicating a member may be running into financial difficulties, symptoms and causes of corporate decline, devising an appropriate action plan for the member and the credit union, and understanding the key characteristics of successful recovery strategies. Course Credit Employees must attend all sessions, complete all assignments, and successfully pass an online quiz to be credited with completing this course. Additional Information: 1. Submission of session pre-work assignments will be required. 2. The online quiz will be available in the participant’s My Courses on the Learning Gateway and should take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. A final mark of 80% or higher is required. 3.
