Second Baptist Church Mother’s Day Out Parent Guidelines ADMISSION Our MDO program has classes to accommodate children from four months old to pre-Kindergarten. The following milestones must be reached for consideration in certain classes: Nursery Ones Threes Fours must be at least 4 months old must be able to walk must be potty-trained must be entering Kindergarten the following year In the majority of cases, children will be grouped according to their chronological age. There may, however, be occasions when a child will be placed out of his/her age group. Those decisions will be made with parent consultation and will always be in the best interest of the child. TUITION and FEES There is an annual enrollment fee of $30, $50, or $70 based on registration date and number of students registered. An enrollment fee is due regardless of the month enrolled, along with the current month’s tuition. Monthly Tuition Rates Full-time student (Ones to PreK) Part-time student (Ones to PreK) Full-time NURSERY student Part-time NURSERY student Each additional full-time student $ 130 $ 65 $ 160 $ 80 $ 95 Examples: a full-time student & a part-time student a full-time NURSERY student & an additional full-time student three full-time students (ages One to PreK) $130 + $65 = $195 $160 + $95 = $255 $130 + $95 + $95 = $320 Tuition costs are figured as follows: There are 70 days in the 2014-2015 MDO year. Daily tuition is around $18.60. Seventy days multiplied by $18.60 is equivalent to $1302.00. That amount is divided by the ten months (AugustMay) of our school year which rounds down to $130/month. Therefore, your tuition is the same for the short months of August and December as it is for the long months of September and April. This makes bookkeeping much easier for all of us. Tuition is due at the beginning of each month. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, a $10.00 late charge will be added to your account. MDO reserves the right to drop a child from the program if tuition is not paid in a timely manner. If a child is absent due to sickness or vacation, parents are still responsible for payment. There will be a $20.00 fee for any check returned due to “non-sufficient funds”. A second returned check will result in a $25.00 fee. After the second returned check, a cash payment will be expected for the remainder of the MDO year. Make checks payable to SBC MDO. There is a $25 graduation fee for MDO graduates. This is due prior to the graduation ceremony. We have tried to divide the number of “special days and celebrations” equally between the Tuesdays and Thursdays in the school year for our part-time students. If there is a special event scheduled on a day your child does not attend, you can pay an additional $18 to participate. DAYS and HOURS OF OPERATION Our program operates on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Children may enter their classrooms at 9:30am and should be picked up by 2:30pm. Please make every effort to pick up your child promptly. A fee of $10.00 may be assessed if your child is picked up late. Our MDO program follows the Anderson County Schools schedule (attached) and will observe all posted holidays and breaks. If the county schools are closed due to snow or other inclement weather, MDO will also be closed. Reimbursement for excessive snow days will be at the Director’s discretion. Please note: the speed limit on Public Safety Drive is 20 miles per hour and will be enforced by the police department. WITHDRAWAL If withdrawing a student from the MDO program, a written notification with at least one calendar month notice is required and should be submitted to the Director. If a written notice is not received, you may be charged tuition until notice is submitted. This time period is necessary to invite new applicants into the program and adjust staffing if needed. ILLNESS Please do not bring your child to MDO if he/she has had a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting within 24 hours of our school day. It is important that all emergency contact numbers are correct and current in case of sudden illness or injury. MEDICATION Medication will be not be applied or administered to a child without written authorization from a parent or other approved person. Obtain a “Medical Dispense Form” from the Director if needed. BITING Biting can be a normal part of a child’s development. If a child is bitten, MDO teachers will take steps to care for the injury (wash, ice, and/or bandage), and a written notification will be sent to the parents involved. After three biting incidents, a two-day suspension will be enforced. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES When necessary, MDO teachers will discipline in a firm, positive and loving way. Disciplinary consequences are administered in order as listed and according to the number of times an expectation is not met. If a behavior is harmful to a child, teachers may find it necessary to begin with the second consequence. Consequence: 1st Verbal warning 2nd Removal from situation (center, group time, etc.) rd 3 Time -out (3-5 minutes based on age) th 4 Loss of privilege/ Parent notified 5th Parent/Director/Teacher Conference th 6 Suspension (to be determined by Director). Physical forms of discipline will not be used. This includes, but is not limited to, spanking on a child’s bottom or hands or any form of physical restraint (such as holding child in time out, holding a child on their rest mats, etc.). If there is a reoccurring disciplinary issue, teachers will work with the Director and parents of the involved student to resolve the problem in a confidential manner. MDO teachers will not be permitted to criticize children or parents. PHOTO RELEASE From time to time, we like to showcase students at work and play at MDO by posting pictures and/or video recordings on the SBC website (www.secondbaptistchurch.org) and the MDO Facebook page (SBC Mother’s Day Out). The MDO staff does not identify a student by listing his/her full name in the posting. If you do not want SBC MDO to post pictures and video on the SBC website or Facebook page without consent, you must notify the MDO Director in writing within 14 days of receiving this notice. please sign and return the bottom portion ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have read the Parent Guidelines for Second Baptist Church Mother’s Day Out program and agree to all terms and conditions listed within its contents.
