The MIS is an important component of Planning and Implementation under SSA.
Management Information Systems (MIS) is the term given to the discipline focused on the
integration
of

on
mission.
MIS systems are especially useful in the collation of data and the production of reports to be
used as tools for decision making.
A management information system (MIS) is a system that provides information needed to
manage organizations effectively and 'MIS' is a planned system of the collection, processing,
storage and dissemination of data in the form of information needed to carry out the management
functions. In a way, it is a documented report of the activities that were planned and executed. .
In effect, MIS must not only indicate how things are going, but why they are not going as well as
planned where that is the case and do so in such a way that identifies individual accountability,
and in virtual real-time.
In MIS department recruit Block MIS in this year and also, will recruit Computer Operator at
Block level.
Management Information System (M.I.S.) is basically concerned with processing data into
information.
The main purpose of MIS is to provide the right information to the right people at the right time.
OBJECTIVES OF MIS
To create comprehensive data on primary education in the district and review the status every
year;

To monitor enrolment and retention;

To monitor performance in respect of students and achievements with special reference to

etc.

Progress in terms of project activities.

Progress in terms of SSA objectives, collation of data, analysis and report generation.

Up gradation of available data base (Family Survey) as a result of initiatives of SSA.

Computer Aided Learning( CAL)
UDISE
UDISE is conceived as the backbone of an integrated educational management information
system operating at the district, State and the national level. DISE 2001 is the latest update of the
school information system being implemented at the district level in DPEP and other districts of
India. Presently the system covers all schools imparting education up to elementary stage. The
system collects and computerizes detailed data on school location, management, teachers, school
buildings and equipment, enrolment by gender and age, incentives and the number of disabled
children in various grades. The districts/states have flexibility of adding additional variables
according to their needs.
The software is organized into eight modules and provides for computerization and analysis of
school data in a variety of ways. It also provides for user specified queries and statistical analysis
and aggregation of data at Cluster, Block and District level. Facilities for export of data into
commonly used formats are included in the software. Decision makers at various administrative
levels can use DISE 2001 in a variety of ways to enhance their decision making capabilities.

DISE data sharing
On completion of DISE data entry, we generate school report cards and other school wise reports
from DISE. The school report cards and data are shared with the schools. The data sharing is
done with SMC members and teachers of the school. Data sharing is important to know,

Status of school

Physical infrastructure of school

Performance of students in exams

Grants and its utilization

Dropouts and retention

Computer Aided Learning( CAL)
The Computer Aided Learning Program (CAL) creates an environment, where learning and assessment
is fun and the opportunities to learn is equitable among the rural and urban children. The CAL is
primarily introduced in rural government elementary schools covering the classes 1 to 8 to attract and
retain children and also in the process, enhance the quality of learning by making “Learning Play”,
“Assessment Fun” and “Equal knowledge for all”.
The Objective and Process:
The main objective of the CAL programme is to attract the children, retain them in the schools and to
improve the quality of the education through animated multimedia based educational content. CAL
objective is sought to be achieved through story based, animated cartoons, interactive games and
riddles with the use of multimedia features. Spontaneous, self initiated and self regulated, the three
critical aspects that make an activity play are integrated in CAL to make Learning Play and use of
cartoons, story line and music is intended to make CAL as self initiated and engaged in learning.
Benefits :
 Improve the interest of students in school studies and thus increase school attendance and
better performance in examinations
 Improve the interest of students in school studies and thus increase school attendance and
