1. Introduction to MMS
An MMS message can contain any combination of graphics,
photographic imagery and audio. Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is
an end-to-end solution enabling operators to deliver a rich MMS
experience to customers. You can now combine text, pictures, photos,
animations, speech and audio for the ultimate messaging experience. You
can also send your messages regardless of the handset you are using from mobile phone, PDCs, Palm Pilots, or PCs.
A multimedia message can, for example, be a photo or picture
postcard annotated with text and/or an audio clip, a synchronized
playback of audio, text, and photo or, in the near future, a video
emulating a free-running presentation or a video clip. It can also simply be
a drawing combined with text.
MMS makes it possible for mobile users to send these multimedia
messages from MMS-enabled handsets to other mobile users and to email users. It also makes it possible for mobile users to receive
multimedia messages from other mobile users, e-mail users and from
multimedia enabled applications. The technology opens up a world of
opportunities, allowing users to access content from the world's leading
providers, using cutting-edge handsets and an advanced multimedia

platform. MMS crosses all boundaries and is predicted to be a major
boost to the GPRS market.
MMS builds on the successful message-push paradigm of SMS
and enhances communication possibilities for mobile users by integrating
the new standards from 3GPP and the WAP forum.
2. MMS Basic Setup
GPRS settings from your network provider
Before you can set up your device to access the GPRS network, contact your network Provide to
obtain the MMS service.
Open the HyperTerminal and set the 19200 board rate.

Set the parameters
Set the MMSC URL (http://100.1.201.171:10021/mmsc) Use HTTP
protocol to send the MMS message, set the IP address and Port of MMS
proxy to “100.1.201.172”, 8799.

Activate the GPRS Network
Set APN (airtelmms.com), register TCP/IP stack (REGAPP). Activate (ACT)
GPRS PDP content.
File Transmit Operation

Upload the picture file (“PIC.jpg”, file size, timeout). It will take
some Seconds. Give the Timeout value based on your file size 1000 to
5000.
Click Transfer menu and select send text file option. Browse
picture File “PIC. Jpg” and Send to hyper terminal.
Write and send MMS Message
Clean the content of MMS message (QMMSW=0).Add the “TO
address”“+91(mobile number)”and character set is “UTF8”.Give MMS
message title (RAJU).
Add the file (“PIC.jpg”) to MMS message and send MMS Message. If the
message is successfully sent, the above (+QMMNOTIFY: 1, 0, 0) Message
will be displayed.
