The MRN, CEO, Dr Graham Wylie shares his
top tips for entrepreneurs:
information to understand their condition, to access opinion on
possible therapies and to access specialist information on research
participation and results. People put this data in their various status
updates and on their profiles, discuss it and raise issues in their tweets
and express it in their internet search patterns.
These social media systems reach billions of people worldwide, so even
1
Providing a quality product comes before a quality
brand - branding works to pull people in, but
quality keeps them with you.
2
People really are your most critical asset - if you
are the only 'talent' in your company, then growth
will be very hard.
3
The culture of the organisation is key and needs
protecting at all costs - when you can’t reach
everyone with your advice and time, you CAN reach
them through culture.
4
Strategies and writing down direction are
mandatory - even if there is a small audience (even
just you), write down your plans and you’ll feel
consistent in your direction.
5
What banks and investors think is unimportant
until you need them - most early investment comes
from grants and they are typically more able to
accommodate the entrepreneur in the early phases.
if a small number share this sort of information, that still amounts to
hundreds of millions of people, making many statements each, in
various media, in pretty much every country in the world, with
considerable amounts of relevant data. At present we have access to
260 Billion conversations reaching back 12 months. This up to date
information gives you actual people to target, who fit your trial
criteria and are looking for information.
Dr Graham Wylie recently supplied a case study
for the Raconteur supplement in the Times
newspaper to help answer the question; “What’s
to be done about Big Data?”

Service Spotlight //
GLOBAL SUPPORT
The MRN can provide clinical trial support services across the globe. With
proven experience across Europe, the Americas and Australasia, the MRN
also has the capability to support clinical trials throughout Asia and in
some parts of South Africa.
HOME TRIAL SUPPORT
Did you know that in many cases 50 – 80% of trial visits can be
performed in the home? In our Home Trials Support (HTS) service we
replace a number of the onsite visits required during a clinical trial with
nurse visits to the patient’s own home, which significantly reduces the
burden on the patient and boosts recruitment rates by up to 60% as well
as repeatedly resulting in retention rates of over 95%.
The interest in HTS seems to fall into three main categories:
• To improve recruitment and retention of patients in trials
• To use the service as it is expected the drug will be administered in
the home when marketed
• To make the lives of the patients better in return for participating in
the research
From simple blood draws to the administration of complex injections, our
home trial support service can help speed up trials, make difficult trials
more practical and improve the experience for patients taking part.
In many cases 50 –
80% of trial visits
can be performed in
