Criteria for Candidacy in Sophomore Year
1. Complete within first two years:

Apply for student teaching at the College of
Education in September for spring placement or
in February for fall placement.
To be admitted to the student teaching internship, a
minimum overall GPA of 2.75 is required in the
following courses: MUS 201 (or EDM 310), EPY 351,
EDU 400, MUE 444, MUE 455.

Educator Certification Testing Program [AECTP].

followed by a positive recommendation from
department chair.

MUS 201 (or EDM 310) is required. MUS 201 is
designed for music majors; EDM 310 is designed for
education majors. MUS 201 is strongly recommended.
This requirement fulfills the “Computer Proficiency”
required by USA. Other majors require a passing grade
on the computer proficiency exam or credit in CIS 150.

which the College of Education has to verify
that the student has mastered, cannot be
accepted as transfer credit.
