A highlight of the event was when Dennis Edwards, an eight time GRAMMY winner during his time performing with the original Temptations, called up NKCGH founders Casey and Timolin Cole out on stage and remarked how their father had “started it all” and then included them in the final song of the night – My Girl. ...continued on page 2 Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. 555 South Federal Hwy., Suite 430 Boca Raton, Florida 33432 natkingcolegenhope.org [email protected] NatKingColeGenerationHope NatKingColeHope Thursday, August 28 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. $25 advance/$35 event day natkingcolegenhope.org GENERATIONS Concert sponsors include Platinum Sponsor Patriot National Insurance Group/Mariano Foundation; Bronze Sponsor Thomas Produce Company; Patron Sponsors CBM of America, Excel Services Corporation, Florida Power & Light, Frankino Family Foundation, Lee and Peg Greenspon, Nancy Over-Conley, West Boca Medical Center; Underwriter Florida Public Utilities; Partners Boca Raton Marriott Boca Center, Dawn of Designs, Kaye Communications, Inc., Lynn University; and Media Sponsors The Boca Raton Tribune, Life Publications and LivingFLA.com. Summer Strings at Lynn University, a camp that provided elementary students without means an opportunity to receive the highest quality string instruction. The students received small group section instruction and private lessons with Lynn’s conservatory students serving as their mentors. Students participating in the camp have limited access to music instruction and would have never been given the opportunity to receive what is considered equal to a full school year’s worth of instruction had they not attended. Their sheer excitement and joy was evident to all as the week-long summer camp culminated in a free community concert performed in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center where Timolin and Casey Cole personally presented a musical achievement certificate to each student. THE NAT AND MARIA COLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. created a four year college scholarship in 2014 for a deserving student to further his/her education in music. The first recipient Cobia Goddard, known as ‘Cobi’, is a musician at heart and spent over 1120 hours volunteering during his high school years playing and teaching guitar as well as mentoring students. Cobi will be attending Palm Beach Atlantic University in the fall and plans to major in Commercial Music. He will be the first in his family to graduate college.
