Applications open for the Lim Boon Heng Scholarship for 2014/2015 Academic Year
The Lim Boon Heng Scholarship was jointly set up in 2012 by the Jurong Central and Jurong
Spring Citizens’ Consultative Committees (CCCs). The Scholarship was established through
generous donations from community leaders and well-wishers , in recognition of former
Grassroots Adviser, Mr Lim Boon Heng’s contributions to Jurong from 2001 to 2011, as well
as his contributions to Singapore where he served as Cabinet Minister. The Scholarship
aims to support Jurong Central and Jurong Spring residents for higher learning at Singapore
Universities, and to foster the spirit of service to the community.
The Jurong Central and Jurong Spring CCCs invite students who have applied for admission
to, or are pursuing courses in local universities in the 2014/2015 academic year to apply for
the Lim Boon Heng Scholarship. This marks the second year of the Scholarship. More

Eligibility
Applicants should meet the following criteria:





Singapore citizen
Registered Resident in Jurong Central* and Jurong Spring** constituencies for at
least 1 year prior to the date of application
Applying for and/or pursuing a course of study leading to a first degree conferred by
established local universities in the 2014/2015 academic year
Possess excellent academic and co-curricular achievements and leadership qualities
Possess an outstanding track record of community service with plans to continue to
serve the community in the future
* Jurong Central constituency includes the following public and private residential units:

Terms and Conditions
Scholarship holders are expected to actively spearhead and lead community and community
service projects and activities in the respective divisions..Jurong Central and Jurong Spring
CCCs may each award the Lim Boon Heng Scholarship to one student. Scholarship holders
will each receive a one-off award of S$10,000, to be awarded in tranches, as may be
determined by the Scholarship Award Panel. The selection panel may additionally award
separate book prize awards to outstanding applicants who are not awarded the Lim Boon
Heng Scholarship. Other terms and conditions will be set out in the Letter of Award offered
to successful applicants.
Mode of Application
Applications must be made via the application form available for download at the following
websites: www.JurongCentral.sg and www.JurongSpring.sg. Hard copies of the application
forms are also available at Jurong Green Community Club and Jurong Spring Community
Club during office hours.
Completed forms must be received by no later than 6 April 2014, 5pm, at one of the

Applicants shortlisted for an interview will be notified by 15 April 2014,
and selected applicants will undergo assessments between May to June 2014.
