Energy Network Automation NME 200 A Fast and Powerful Electric Maneuver Device NME 200 is a maintenance free electric motor driven operating device for supervision and control of polemounted air-break switches, load break switches and disconnectors. Utilizing rare earth magnet motor technology, NME 200 has the power to operate even the most stubborn units with the speed to make the operation safe. NME 200 has a flexible interface so it can be used in the following modes; • Remote operation via Radius RNO data radios • Remote operation using DNP3, 60870-5-101 or IEC 60870-5-104 interface • Hardwire interface to a local SCADA RTU • Local operation using an operator’s panel NME 200 is designed to operate in a wide range of switch applications. The motor switch operator can be used in conjunction with the following communication alternatives. Radius RNO Data Radios For any remote device, the key to its successful operation is the communication between the device and its host. Netcontrol has been providing such communication systems for the electricity industry for decades and has designed a number of radio modems, which provides the security and robustness needed for these applications. Netcontrol provides a fully SCADA integrated communication system. Netcontrol offers a range of dedicated data radios which utilize a compressed protocol with mesh technology. They have high signal recovery resulting in a reliable wide area networked remote control and lower costs. Operational Features The robust mechanical cabinet hosts a rare earth magnet motor device creating a safe and rapid maneuver. The typical operation duration for NME 200 is under one second. The device is normally remotely operated but can also be controlled locally by an operator’s panel. The panel is designed to be clear and easily understood. Indications such as switch position, battery status and charging status are easily viewed. A battery test can be performed at any time to check the condition of the batteries. NME 200 fits seamlessly into radio network. RNO data radios are event triggered to maximize spectrum efficiency. Each unit can also act as a repeater forwarding messages to other units. Any message has the ability to pass through four other units before reaching its destination. RNOs communicate with a central radio which can be integrated into a SCADA system and can utilize industry protocols such as DNP3, IEC 608705-101 and IEC 60870-5-104. Stored Energy / Battery Management NME 200 is provided with a rechargeable battery solution to ensure continued operational performance beyond the loss of supplied voltage. NME 200 Communication Alternatives Cabinet Material: Stainless steel Size: (HxWxD) 400 x 400 x 210 mm Weight: 45 kg Protection Class: IP 64 Operating Tempature: -40 ... +60 oC Voltage Supply: 115 / 230 VAC* (6-33 kV) Heating Element: 30 W Battery 2 x 12V, 12 Ah rechargeable lead acid batteries Charging Current: 2.5 A Current Consumption: 0.14 A DC (stand-by) Control Unit Regulating Unit: 2.3 kN at 175 mm Operation Speed: 150 mm / 0,5 s Length of Stroke: Adjustable in steps between 125 and 200 mm Number of Maneuvers: At least 10 maneuvers after 48 hours stand by battery operated Manual Operation: Yes, via supplied handle Motor Overload: Overload current protection Door Alarm: Option 3rd Party Communication The NME 200 cabinet temperature is thermostatically controlled and the battery charging is temperature compensated to ensure battery health. A calibrated load further tests the batteries at configurable time intervals to ensure that their health has been maintained. NME 200 prevents battery discharging beyond their minimum charge level by measuring the battery capacity at regular intervals and subsequently disconnecting the batteries from the circuit, prior to this minimum level being reached. The host system is kept informed of battery status via a number of remote status alarms, which are also displayed on the local operator’s panel. Local Operation with Hit & Run Function NME 200 has a local control panel that can be used to open or close the load switch. Critical status information such as switch position and battery status is displayed at the panel. A lamp test gives the operator confidence that no alarms are missing. The unit can be switched to either ‘local’ or ‘remote’ mode and for additional safety can be switched to an ‘off’ position which prevents both local and remote operation. Safety is paramount and therefore to perform a local operation the operator must press an ‘activate’ button before pressing either the ‘open’ or ‘close’ in order to avoid unintentional operations. Integrated Self-Sectionalizing Function NME 200 has an optional integrated self-sectionalizing function. When a line disturbance occurs, a selfsectionalizing routine starts. The user can configure how the system works, by setting various timing and reclaim parameters. The device will open within the dead-time of an upstream breaker and will close when the voltage returns for a preset period. If it closes into a fault, it will open and lockout in the next dead-time. This makes the device ideally suited for spur lines as well as main sections. All information is reported to the customer’s control centre for immediate real time monitoring. For additional safety the unit can be programmed to allow for ”Hit & Run” operation, which allows the operator to move to a safe distance from the switch after pressing the local maneuver control. NME 200 can be supplied, as an option, with a DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101 or IEC 60870-5-104 protocol interface, allowing it to be integrated into an existing SCADA system. The communication medium is then free so NME 200 can communicate to the host via a range of different options from TETRA radio to fiber optic or cellular. Netcontrol provides their PDR range of digital data radios, which allow wide high-speed communication to the host system. By using a mesh type technology with repeating functionality it can cover very wide geographical areas. Radius RNO Radio Frequency Range: VHF 140 - 174 MHz UHF 330 - 350 MHz UHF 360 - 390 MHz UHF 400 - 430 MHz UHF 430 - 440 MHz UHF 440 - 470 MHz UHF 475 - 505 MHz Direct Cable Connection Tx Power: 0.01 ... 5.0 W software adjustable NME 200 can be deployed in a large switching station and can be hardwired via in-built terminal interfaces to the existing switching station marshalling cabinet and SCADA RTU. Control and monitoring are via opto-coupled interfaces and volt-free contacts. Power for the motor is derived from the battery in NME 200 and thus there is no concern about voltage drop along the cables to the unit. Receiver Sensitivity: Better than -114 dBm Standards FCC RULE PARTS: 90.210 ETSI 300-220/UHF HIGH 300-113 ETS 300-683 MPT1329 MPT1411 LVD 72/23/EEC (93/68/EEC) A handle is provided that can be used if a manual operation is required. Inserting the handle in to its operating position disengages a clutch, decoupling the motor and allowing the operator to freely move the switch. The handle is designed so that it can be left in position and padlocked, thus preventing manual, local or remote electrical operation. Energy Network Automation NME 200
