PHL Government and Industry Representatives Participate in CeBIT Australia 2014

The Philippines participated in this year’s CeBIT held at the Sydney Olympic Park in New
South Wales, Australia from May 5 to 7. CeBIT is the largest business technology event in
Australia featuring an exhibition, conferences, workshops and networking forum for individuals,
companies and government agencies engaged in business and IT.
The Philippine delegation in CeBIT Australia 2014, led by Mr. Jomari Mercado, President and
CEO of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), was supported by
the Philippine Government through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) which
was represented at the conference by Director Patricia May M. Abejo of the Cyberservices/ICT
Industry Development Information and Communications Technology Office, DOST.
Twelve (12) companies joined this year’s Philippine delegation to CeBIT Australia, namely,
ADEC Group, EstanSAAS Development Inc., Exist Global, Global Process Manager Inc.,
Globe Telecom, KMC Solutions, Pointwest Technologies, Salmat Services Inc., SPi Global,
StraightArrow Corporation, Sutherland Global Services, and TeleDevelopment Services Inc.
This is the 6 th year that the Philippines has participated in CeBIT, highlighting the country’s
capabilities in areas such as IT consulting, software development, customer relationship
management, back office support, creative processes, healthcare information management,
knowledge process outsourcing, telecommunications, HR solutions, and offshore hosting
services, among others.
In conjunction with the delegation’s participation in CeBIT, a Philippine IT-BPO Forum jointly
organized by IBPAP, Ernst & Young Australia, and the DTI Office in Sydney was held at Ernst
& Young on May 5. Around 100 representatives from various Australian companies and
institutions attended the Forum.

cited the wide range of capabilities of Philippine-based IT-BPO companies and encouraged the
participants to take the opportunity to talk to the industry representatives on the services they
could provide to clients all over the world.
The speakers at the Forum comprised IBPAP President & CEO Mercado, DOST Director
Abejo, Mr. Tom Reilly of Ernst & Young Australia, Mr. Jonathan Trubshaw of Sutherland Global
Services; and Mr. Gregory Kittelson of KMC Solutions. END
