The PIU-Office
The PIU-office was founded in 1992.
PIU is a co-operation among approx. 30
business colleges in Denmark which send
about 30 trainees to England and 130
trainees to Germany each year.

THE PIU-PROGRAMME
PIU is short for the Danish “work placements
abroad“.
Through the PIU-programme in England you have
the opportunity to hire a highly motivated and
already well-educated Danish trainee for 12
months.
The trainees have graduated from commercial
upper secondary school, and a traineeship in
England is considered as a good start for his/her
future career.
Trainees who decide to go abroad demonstrate a
certain drive and determination, and what
companies abroad can expect is a competent
young person eager to work, learn and to face
cultural and linguistic challenges in a new work
environment.

PROFILE OF A DANISH TRAINEE
Education:
Graduation from the commercial upper
secondary school (3 years)
Age of the student:
19-20 years
Proficiency in English:
Similar to A-level
Salary:
£750 per month at a minimum. Approx. 20-25
days of vacation per employment year.
Period of placement:
One year (prolongation possible for one more
year)
High level skills:
