Sound Barriers A Noise Impact Assessment was prepared to analyze the effects of highway traffic noise on communities within the project limits. Sound barriers were evaluated as a way of reducing or eliminating noise impacts to the affected public and were found to be feasible. Forty-three (43) sound barriers were found to be feasible and reasonable to reduce noise impacts. Sound barriers are constructed within Georgia DOT right-of-way, not on private property. The maximum height of a noise wall is 30 feet. Sound barriers must provide at least a 5 decibel reduction for the locations affected by noise impacts. The proposed sound barriers would be constructed of a light-weight concrete material with a textured finish, as shown in the photo below. The sound barriers may also be earthen berms or combination berm/wall systems. Georgia DOT is seeking input from individuals who benefit from the construction of sound barriers. The sound barriers will not be constructed if a majority of the benefited public does not want the sound barrier. Please provide your vote on the sound barriers by completing the voting ballot available at this meeting. LEGEND SIX ES RD Holly Springs Sixes Rd.
