ASSISTANT MANAGER:
PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT (X1)
Salary: Salary negotiable, 3 year fixed term contract.
Requirements: B degree / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with five years’ in Project Management, two
of which must have been at senior level • Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa. Computer
literacy (Microsoft Office) and knowledge of CAD and project management software will be an advantage
• Knowledge of Municipal Infrastructure Grant. MIG) and a Valid Code B driver’s licence • Competencies:
Advanced programme / project management and planning skills • Leadership ability and good communication
and skills • Planning, monitoring and presentation skills • Financial management skills.
Key Responsibilities: Integrate, coordinate and project manage the MIG in jurisdiction area • Ensure project
compliance with legislation, policies and conditions applicable to MIG Review • Manage budget and cash
flow • Liaise at provincial level, and with Senior MIG Manager, as well as with other line functionaries and
departments via regular evaluations / progress meetings • Submit monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual
reports to COGTA, as determined by legislation / required by the MIG Manager • Prepare the unit’s business
plans and technical reports • Responsible for the management of the PMU team and its performance.
TECHNICIAN:
PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT (X1)
Salary: R222 989.00 – R251 578.00 pa (Post Level: 05)
Requirements: National Diploma in Civil Engineering or BTECH in Civil Engineering Must a have Code EC 1
driving license. Project management skills will serve as a strong recommendation • Must have a project
design experience, and at least be registered candidate technician / technologist with ECSA.
Key responsibilities: Ensuring project compliance with all applicable legislation, policies and conditions
applicable to MIG. Conducting project performance and cash flows reviews. Liaising with the Provincial
and the Senior MIG Manager as well as other line function departments through formal regular evaluation /
progress meetings and on an ad hoc basis as instructed by the PMU Manager. Submitting monthly, quarterly,
bi-annual, annual and adhoc reports to COGTA as determined in applicable instructed by the PMU Manager.
Inspection of projects on sites for progress and quality assurance. Implementation of the Expanded Public
Works Programme and reporting on EPWP compilation of MIG expenditure reports and PMU monthly reports.
ARTISAN: ELECTRICAL X 1
Salary: R148 660.00-R153 149.00 pa (Post Level 09)
Requirements: Grade 12 and qualified trade test certificate in electricity, ownership of electrical license will
serve as an added advantage • Code B driver’s license • Successful candidates should be able to work under
pressure and over weekends as in and when required.
Key Responsibilities: Work on MV and LV lines for maintenance purpose, maintain mid-block lights, street lights,
and high mast lights • Maintain electricity infrastructure in all the Municipal buildings.
