ARMY NETBALL ASSOCIATION TRAINING SESSION SAT 22 NOV TO SUN 23 NOV 2014
1.
Introduction. Following on from the largest Inter-Corps and Inter-Unit competition last
month, the Army Netball Association’s (ANA) first training and fixture weekend will take place from
Sat 22 to Sun 23 Nov 14 in Catterick Garrison. The weekend will include fixtures against civilian
opposition and training with the ANA coach; timings for the weekend can be found at Annex A.
Players will be expected to attend all sessions throughout the weekend; absences are to be
approved by Team Manager.
2.
Availability. All players listed in Annex B are to confirm their availability for this training
session to Maj Laura White the temporary Army Team Manager by COP Mon 10 Nov 14 by any
means necessary, her contact details are as follows:

Inter-Service selection and attendance at ANA training sessions. The standard of
players in the ANA is getting stronger year on year. Consequently there greater competition for
places to represent the Army at the annual Inter-Services championships which will take place in
Mar 2015 in Portsmouth. Whilst it is understood that, due to military commitments or injury, not
all players can attend all of the planned training sessions, a criteria has been determined by the
ANA Chairman. To be eligible for selection for the 2015 Inter-Service championships the following
criteria will have to be met:
a.
Must attend at least one of the planned ANA weekend training sessions.
b.
Officially selected by the ANA coaches to be a member of the 2014/15 ANA squad.
c.
Must be available (mandatory requirement) to attend the pre Inter-Service training
session 1–3 Mar 15 at Aldershot.
4.
Dress and Equipment. Players are to arrive in black tracksuit bottoms and black/red
ARMY NETBALL hoodies, if they have them. Players should bring black shorts and red ARMY

NETBALL t-shirts to train in, if not any red t-shirt and black shorts will suffice. All players are to
bring ample water, sufficient for all day as breaks will be minimal and a small towel.
5.
Travel. This letter is the authority for the individuals listed at Annex B to travel at public
expense to this approved ANA training session weekend, in accordance with 2014DIN10-030.
Players are to use the most economical methods possible, which includes car sharing with other
players from the same or local area. Minibuses / MPVs are to be used from the following
locations:

If anyone chooses not to use the provided transport from the three areas outlined above,
they will not be eligible to claim back any expenses. Changes to the transport plan are to be
cleared by Maj White only.
7.
Transit Accommodation. Transit accommodation has been booked for all ranks in Block
25, Alma Lines Munster Barracks, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, DL9 3QG from Fri 21 Nov
until the morning of Sun 23 Nov. As the name suggests, this accommodation is transit in its
nature, expect the worst and we can only be pleasantly surprised! Bedding is NOT provided.
Players are to report to the QRL guardroom Munster DL9 3PZ Tel: 01748 873235 where they will
be given the code to the front door and directed to the block. A room plan will be provided to the
guardroom, please ensure that you stay in your allocated room. The rooms can be secured from
the inside, but not from the outside, therefore padlocks are advisable. Anyone who wishes not to
be accommodated is to speak to Maj White in the first instance. Cpl Ness is requested to act as
the PoC for any accommodation matters.
8.
Messing. All meals will be taken in the Richmond Centre, which is located in Munster
Barracks, please note that this is a PAYD, all ranks facility. Clean tracksuits are allowed, but no
flip-flops, players are to note that occasionally senior officers use this facility therefore only the
highest standard of turnout and behaviour will be expected. Due to the condensed timings for the
weekend and in order that we have as much time as possible with the ANA coach, a packed lunch
has been booked for both Saturday and Sunday. Sgt Gledhill is requested to collect the packed
lunches at breakfast each day and ensure they are delivered to the gym. All players have been
booked in for meals from evening meal on Fri 21 Nov 14 till lunch on Sun 23 Nov 14, if anyone
requires any meals outside of these timings they should contact Maj Laura White ASAP.
9.
Future Fixtures. As a reminder for your diaries the remaining ANA training sessions and
fixtures for the 2014/15 season are outlined below. All calling notices will also be posted on the
ANA website (www.armynetball.org) and on the Army Netball MOSS site:
