From the Office Congratulations to Harold Morrissey and Kings Bar Bee for winning the 2014 National Futurity, this is Harolds 4th Futurity win and a great family line up as well. Kings Bar Bee is by Kings Playboy (futurity champion) out of Hollywood Bar Bee and full sister to Bar Bees Playboy (futurity champion). Congratulations to all other place getters at the show. A huge thank you must firstly go to Barry and Linley Ladd, this show could not happen without all that you do. Thanks also to Ben and Erin for the hours out the back coordinating the rough cattle, thanks also to Grant for bringing along Gator and settling cattle and as a help horse, also Margret Savage for bringing along “Nerdy” & Mindy for bringing “Bazza” as herd help horses;; Steve and Julie for bringing “Buck” and Barry for bringing “Fort Worth” as turn back horses. Thanks also to the LIONs for catering and Richard Prew for his judging; Helen Donaldson for arena directing and Sharlene McInnes for announcing. We’d also be lost without our wonderful show secretary Julie Gregory and Photographer Helen Holmes. We also thank all the show sponsors; people who have contributed to the cattle scheme and those that sponsored buckles and awards throughout the season. Cutting is a sport where team effort is essential and I believe NZCHA has a fantastic team of members and supporters. Geoff Taylor felt that the Show Secretaries Excel spreadsheets and show levies was out dated and either a flat rate for levies would be easier for new show secretaries. After discussion, council will investigate options for levies, either as a total percentage (%) or as money ($) value. Cattle Hirage is too variable to be included as an all in fee and has to be charged show by show as required to cover cost. Action: Council Steve Gregory felt the new Non Pro Rule for riding in the Non Pro events at shows needed to be amended so that a competitor entering the Non Pro classes must own the horse they are showing in the Non Pro events. Motion: “To compete in the Non Pro classes the competitor must own the horse/s they ride in the Non Pro Events”. Moved: Steve Gregory Seconded: Ian Dodunski Carried NB: a. An official NZCHA Lease (horse transfer) agreement will be accepted as ownership. b. A NZ Non Pro does not need to own the horse in the Open/Novice Horse, or Restricted events. Approved Shows (page 20) Jacob Ladd moved that the sentence “Open and Non Pro must have a minimum purse of $50” be deleted. Seconded Tamsin Lines. Carried The National Championship Finals: (bullet points) Grant Mackie moved “For a horse to qualify for a Horse Event it must have competed in Open or Novice Horse at three (3) approved shows”. Seconded: Jacob Ladd Carried. Rule change in Australia requiring all shows to allow 3 head of cattle per competitor will not be adopted in NZ due to access to enough cattle. General Business: 1. With the shorter time frame to have show approvals in to the office, clubs are asked to prepare tentative show dates at their AGMs, and forward them to Chatter Editor so competitors have plenty of notice of likely show dates. 2. It would be great if we could combine with a performance clubs premier show and bring Kim & Fred Johnson over – (Kim for performance judging and Fred to do a judges clinic for us). 3. Members with interest in becoming judges should sit with show judges whenever possible and practice judging classes (unofficial scoring with the assistance of mentor judges). 4. Olivia is to approach AQHA-NZ via Jacob about potential demos at AQHA-NZ Nats – where we could raffle a ride on a cutting horse/s as fundraising. She is also to work on auctioning/raffling a ride on a cutting horse at the next futurity. 5. AON and Cattle Insurance – individual cattle are not covered in public liability insurance, NZCHA would have to be found negligent by a claimant for damage done to property or persons, but not cattle we use. 6. $5,000 in the Term Investment Acct is the minimum Cattle Insurance cover, going forward amount can be increased but is only available for the purpose of Cattle cover, this includs affiliated clubs for approved shows and NZCHA approved trainings, but does not include non-approved activities by affiliated clubs or members. 7. Youth and Restricted Buckles going forward will be purchased post the events, unless it is obvious early in the season that the events will be contested at the National finals. The Futurity First Year Incentive Buckle will also be purchased post Futurity if it is required. 8. Cutters Rep form is now not required. Any issues with members or Judges at an Approved show must be directed firstly verbally to the Competitors Advocate (Harold at the moment), if the issue is unresolved it must be followed up by a written statement and if still unresolved a council meeting will be called to address the issue/s. Change to be advertised in Chatter. 9. Levies on shows. Karen proposed a standard $5 NZCHA levy replace the current $2 rider insurance; $1 cattle insurance; 5% levy on entries and 1% levy on combined purse and entry. This would make it so much easier for show secretaries. With time constraint at this meeting Karen will provide councilors with copies of proposed format and current format for them to consider. 10. Consideration to amending rule, allowing for entries not to be including in purse for Championship shows, this would help all clubs finances. – Further discussion required at next meeting. 11. Rosemary mention how expensive it is to bring Futurity Keepsakes in to NZ- approx $800 each – no out come 12. Next season buckles – Olivia to investigate getting buckles via Kelly Ross and Julie/Janine/Gemma/Helen to visit Ride Tuff (Eddie Fisher) at Aust Futurity and see what would be available to us and a reasonable price and faster delivery time. 13. Nth Island Councilor’s to hold a Debrief for National Finals and Futurity after the CPCHC AGM in a few months. 14. Rule change: to Guideline: NZCHA Council will select dates for the Futurity and Nationals Finals to run within a 4 to 6 week period of each other as the season dictates”. 15. The date Hawera is booked for 2015 Futurity is 1st and 2nd of May. 16. Futurity planning: Julie is to talk to Seline about how the sand is brought in and out, where it goes after the show, can it be stored somewhere on site for us; we seem to be buying in sand every year and it disappears and isn’t available for us the following year. Melissa to check the site approx. a week out from Futurity show and with consultation with Julie and Barry arrange for sand to come in and be spread earlier in the week. (Allowing for turn back horses to be on soft sand and a run-down strip for horses warming up outside of the actually showing area). 17. National Finals 2015 – Both Sth Island clubs need to come up with hosting proposals to be submitted to NZCHA, who will then make the final decision. The Sth Island clubs will also need some sort of commitment from Nth Island members to attend before they proceed with sponsorship etc. 18. Karen is to provide several scenarios for reviewing how National Finals champions are decided using this year’s format against other suggested formats. (still to be decided at the National finals) Next meeting between Aug and Oct 2014. Rider Profile Full Given Name: Keri Worrall Name you prefer to be known as: As above Where were you born?
