Speaker Profile
His Excellency Mr James Wise
Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of
Thailand
James Wise has been Ambassador to Thailand since
August 2010. This is his second posting to Thailand.
From 1995 to 1998 he was Deputy Head of Mission at
the Australian Embassy in Bangkok and Permanent
Representative to ESCAP.
Mr Wise has also been Australia’s High Commissioner
(Ambassador) to Malaysia (2003-07). Earlier in his
career he served in Moscow (1987-91) and in Port
Moresby (1983-85).
Mr Wise has also held senior positions in the
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.
From 2007 to 2010, he was First Assistant Secretary
(Director-General equivalent), Corporate Management
Division. In 2001-2002 he was First Assistant Secretary
of South Pacific, Africa and Middle East Division.
Educated at the University of Tasmania, Mr Wise holds
a Bachelor of Arts degree with first class Honours in
History. He is married to Teresa. They have two adult
children, Matthew and Anita.

A graduate of the University of Melbourne, Khun Mechai
is perhaps not an entrepreneur in the traditional sense.
Rather, he has developed his own brand of worldleading social entrepreneurship which blends
commercial success with community mindedness,
individual responsibility and continual personal
development.
Khun Mechai is the founder of the Population and
Community Development Association (PDA) and has a
long and remarkable history of population management,
community development, poverty eradication, HIV/AIDS
prevention, and the establishment of the Bamboo School
which is endeavouring to re-engineer rural education.

Dr Sirikorn Maneerin, Former Deputy Minister of
Education and Colombo Plan student at University of
Sydney durin 1970-1973 recalled her first long-distance
journey, “Parents in the old days rarely allowed
daughters to travel far from home, so I was excited to
receive a Colombo Plan scholarship. I matured my
thinking and learnt to be responsible for myself, which is
a significant foundation for life. I was impressed with the
Australian lifestyle which bonded with nature.
Australians are half-Asian and they are friendly. Later
when I worked at the Education Ministry, I also had an
opportunity to establish vocational education
collaboration between Australia and Thailand.”

Rapee Rojvirasingh

Rapee Rojvirasingh or RJ is a young Australian alumni.
He received his Master’s degree from Macquarie
University in Marketing, He has 5 years hands-on
experience working in advertising industry particularly
in multinational organisations in Australia. Combing
with strong abilities to achieve customer retention,
acquisition and develop positive relationship. RJ is
currently holding a position of Managing Director of
‘Mad Appe’ – a young professional company, offering
total digital marketing solution, such as Mobile
Application, Website and Social Application. “Vowing to
change the face of Digital Marketing in Thailand and I
am not going to stop until I win” has been one of RJ’s
prime aims.

Performance
Khun Navinda Pachimsawat Vadtanakovint
(Lordfai)
Lordfai is a contemporary dance artist and a 2012
graduate of the Victorian Collage of the Arts, The
University of Melbourne, Australia. She was born and
raised in Bangkok, Thailand and began her 18 years
dance training at Bangkok Dance Academy where she
now teaches and choreographs. During her time at The
Victorian Collage of the Arts, Lordfai worked with
Choreographers Rebecca Hilton, Fiona Cameron, Jodie
Ferrugia, Prue Lang and Larissa McGowan. She was
participated in Dance North Company’s secondments in
Townsville. After graduation, Lordfai directed
contemporary, improvisation, choreography, body
conditioning, and ballet workshops and choreographed
for Alstonville School of Dance and Byron Ballet
Company in Byron Bay, C.S.T.D summer camp in Kuala
Lumpur and the Western Dance Faculty at the Dramatic
Fine Arts School in Bangkok. Last year, Lordfai was
accepted to take part in the Soft Landing intensive
professional development program at QL2 Dance Inc. in

Canberra. Later, her choreography Opaque at the 15
Asia-Pacific Dance Festival was the first ever to be
highlighted as the most outstanding choreography. She
also co-created and performed in James Batchelor’s
Ersatz contemporary dance and multimedia installation
in Thailand, presented by the Australian Embassy
Bangkok and Dance Arts Foundation. This year, She
has been selected to participate in the DanceWEB
program in the frame of ImpulsTanz – Vienna
International Dance Festival in Austria. She is one of the
67 selected artists out of 1055 applicants from 75
countries and the second Thai ever to be offered with
this scholarship.
