AGA Charleston Chapter Newsletter
President’s Message
The end of the year is a good time to reflect on the past and plan for the new
year coming. When I think of the past AGA year, I feel very proud of our
accomplishments as a chapter. We have had a year of many successes; first
chapter anniversary celebration, membership drive, membership contest, assisted
with the CYDC Halloween and Christmas parties, increased our chapter
membership and achieved our Chapter Recognition Program (CRP) goal for the
first time.
I would like to thank all of our members who helped make this year successful.
We would not be where we are today without the dedication of our Chapter
Executive Committee (CEC) members and Committee Chairs.
As 2015 begins, we are planning some exciting events. In January, the chapter
will sponsor a pizza luncheon with the scholarship money that has been provided
by AGA National. We are also hoping to host our national president.
Our goals for the chapter for 2015 (the second half of the AGA program year)
include: obtain Bronze or Silver Chapter designation status in the CRP, prepare a
Chapter Citizen Centric Report (CCR), write the chapter SOP
manual, continue to add colleagues to our membership and
increase the involvement of more members in chapter
activities.
In closing, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and
a happy and healthy 2015.
Beth Da Re, CGFM
Chapter President

The past few months have been active and successful for our community service team and for those who helped

Community Service News: Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure
October 18th, 2014
AGA Charleston contributed $76 and the team raised $424 for a total contribution
for this cause of $500!! Way to go team! It was a beautiful day for a walk and such
a great experience to see the creative ways participants represented their support
and how many people are committed as a community in the Lowcounty to finding a
cure for Breast Cancer.
AGA Charleston had a total of ten individuals who walked for the chapter, which
included five members. Thank you to the member participants who all proudly wore
their pink!

Community Service News: CYDC Halloween Party
October 25th, 2014
What an exciting and rewarding event! Kudos to Pauline Abraham and the event team participants for throwing a
howling good time for the kids at CYDC. AGA Charleston members and even non-members really stepped up and
contributed to this event. With food, supply and monetary donations, the chapter was able to provide the kids with
plenty of food and fun for the whole evening. Activities such as the “Witches Wart”, “Mummy Race”, “Skeleton
Parts”, “Musical Monsters”, and “Guess What’s in the Bowl” entertained the kids and had us all laughing. It was
great to see how much the children enjoyed decorating their moon pies too. A total of $270 was contributed for
games and pizza. The residual monies left of $33.14 was sent to the CYDC as a monetary donation. Thanks again
for taking time out of your weekend to provide the kids with Halloween entertainment and for those of you who
contributed with supplies and money. It truly is a team effort to make events like this happen!

Community Service News: Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
December 2014
CFC is one the world’s largest annual workplace charity campaigns. Pledges
made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign
season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and
human service benefits throughout the world. AGA Charleston participated in
the silent auction again this year. Chapter members contributed money
towards a “Starbucks Galore” basket, which consisted of various Starbucks
products such as iced coffee, Frappuccino, energy drinks, Keurig “Holiday
Blend”, two bags of ground coffee, hot chocolates, teas, snacks, a mug and a
$25 gift card. The basket was turned over to the Center for bidding on
November 20th and generated a sizable bid for the campaign. Thanks to all
who made this possible!

Community Service News: CYDC Christmas Party
December 13, 2014
It was great to see the kids of CYDC again (old and new faces). AGA Charleston, staff throughout CGFS and others
outside the Center provided the children this year with cookies, crafts, food and gifts. The children made
ornaments, socialized, ate and ended the evening with either Bath and Body Works goodies, Nike Hoodies, battery
operated trucks or Barbie's (for the younger kids). Watching their eyes light up and their enjoyment from receiving
gifts during this time of year is the reason you all should be commended. Participating, if even in a small way, is
what enables these events to happen and you all should be very proud. The community service team would also
like to acknowledge Nancy Hood for her dedication to CYDC on these events for the past 27 years. Thank you for
allowing AGA Charleston the opportunity to experience CYDC in 2014 and for years to come.
