Susan Briehl A Lutheran pastor for twenty‐five years, she has served in parish, campus and retreat center settings. She is an associate with the Valparaiso Project on Education and Formation of People in Faith, and is actively involved as a presenter with Living Liturgy. The Psalms: A matter of life and death. Together we will explore the songs and prayers and promises we call the Psalter. As they weave through the fabric of our worship, give voice to our personal and communal prayers, and bear witness to the steadfast love of God. Susan Briehl is a pastor of the ELCA, rostered in the Indiana‐Kentucky Synod and called to serve as the Associate Director of the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People of Faith. Previously she has served with her husband Martin Wells as Executive Director of Holden Village, as campus pastor at Pacific Lutheran University, and as pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bellingham, WA. She has taught preaching and parish worship at Wartburg Seminary. Susan holds a B.A. and an M.A. in English from Washington State University, a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA, and a Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, S.C. She has written numerous books, liturgical texts, hymns, and worship songs. Among her most recent publications are On Our Way: Christian Practices for Living a Whole Life, edited with Dorothy Bass (Upper Room, 2009), and Holden Prayer around the Cross: A Guide to the Liturgy, with Tom Witt (Augsburg 2009). She lives in Spokane, WA. Guests: Representatives from the Mission Investment Fund (MIF), and Portico Health Services will join us at Ministerium to share goods and service. Fellowship: Again this year we will be making sure that our evening times together will be filled with great food, beverages and fellowship. You won't want to miss it!!! A special thank you to MIF. Workshops: A number of workshops will be offered related to the Psalms and ways they may be used in worship, for Bible study, prayer and pastoral care. Bookstore: The Good Bookstore, a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester, will offer materials for purchase including titles from Augsburg Fortress and other publishers.
