St. Benedict Scores Well on EQAO
Grade 6 students reach 90 per cent or higher; Grade 3s 80 per cent and up
St. Benedict students did very
well on the latest EQAO Provincial testing.
One hundred per cent of our
Grade 6 students achieved Level 3
or 4 in Writing while 92 per cent
of our Grade 3s scored at Level 3
or 4 in Math.
EQAO tests were written by
our Grade 3 and 6 students, along
Interactive, Internet-connected White Boards engage students
with students across Ontario, in
May of last year.
St. Benedict’s Grade 6 students
once again scored better than the
Province and higher than our own
York Catholic District School
Board average in every area.
Our Grade 3 students scored
better than the Provincial average
and at or better than our own
School Board in all areas.
St. Benedict’s scores vary from
year to year, of course, but they
have been on an upward trend for
the past few years.
St. Benedict’s staff will review
EQAO and other data in order to
build on our strengths and to address areas where we could improve.
Our school has focused on
building our educational technology capacity over the past few years
and will continue to do so this
year.

SBT Fundraiser Targets Tech Upgrades
Tax-Deductible, Donation Fundraiser to begin October xx
We are building up our education technology and we need your
help again.
We are placing InternetConnected, Interactive White
Boards in all of our classrooms.
These White Boards capture
our students’ interest and are great
teaching tools.
Over the past three years, we’ve
built up our technology resources
here at St. Benedict.
We’ve put at least one new
computer in each classroom and
we’ve built a modern computer lab
and a special Presentation Room.
And we have put Interactive
White Boards into some of our
classrooms.
To do all this, we’ve used money that you donated, along with
school funds and donations from
Trustee Marlene Mogado and the
St. Benedict is a
Uniform School
St. Benedict is of course
a Uniform School.
Please contact Principal
Ed Hamel in confidence if
you have difficulties providing your child with a uniform.
TD Bank.
But we need your help again.
We will soon start our 20142015 Tax deductible, Donation
fundraiser.
The money you donate to our
Tax-Deductible School Fundraiser
will be well used and will have a
big, positive impact on students.
And every penny will be used
for our students: We won’t be selling chocolates or gifts, so we will
be able to use whatever we take in.
While we are suggesting a donation of $50 per family, please
give if and as you are able. Participation is voluntary, of course, and
all donations are kept confidential.
This tax-deductible donation
fundraiser will be the major source
of funding we have this year at St.
Benedict.
Catholic School Council may
raise a smaller amount of money
from food sales and will use that
for the school as well.
The major benefits of our taxdeductible donation campaign are:
 Your child will not sell to relatives, neighbours or family
 100 per cent of the proceeds
will go to the school
 You will receive a tax receipt
for your donation (for a minimum
donation of $25)
 The school will receive money
close to the start of the year and
can plan more effectively
We will begin a two week campaign for donations beginning October 20, and ending October 31.
Beginning Nov. 10, returned
donation envelopes will be randomly drawn and prizes awarded,
to encourage children to return envelopes. Donations will remain
confidential to all but the office
staff. More information is on its
way home to you.
