DIAZ EXPRESS DESTINATIONS
SANTOS
Santos beach is a Blue Flag beach
near the Southern Cape town of
Mossel Bay.
It is wide and sandy, with brilliant
ocean views and easy access to the
town’s shops, restaurants, banks,
tourist information centre and many
historic sites.
The rocky outcrops along the beach
are home to rock pools full of
interesting sea creatures, as well as
oyster beds.
Next to the beach, the Dias Museum
Complex is named after
Bartolomeu Dias – the master
mariner and first explorer to set foot
on South African soil here in Mossel
Bay on 3 February 1488. A life-size
replica of his caravel can be viewed
in the museum.
DIAZ EXPRESS DESTINATIONS
LITTLE BRAK RIVER
A tranquil little haven of sea, lagoon
and river, virtually lost in time,
wedged between Mossel Bay and
Great Brak River, is Little Brak River.
At the charming Klipheuwel farm
stall, housed in an old farm house
dating back to the 1920's, visitors
can buy hand made gifts, relax and
enjoy the country atmosphere with
refreshments and light meals.
A must is a wine tasting session of
the Boplaas Family Vineyard’s wines,
especially the Cool Bay Sauvignon
Blanc range.
The maiden vintage of the Cool Bay
Reserve won the South African
Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc at
the SA National Young Wine Show in
2009, with the 2010 repeating this
feat in 2010 and most recently the
2013 won double gold at the Veritas
awards 2013.
DIAZ EXPRESS DESTINATIONS
GREAT BRAK RIVER
Great Brak River village nestles in a
perfect Garden Route setting midway between George and Mossel
Bay. Sweeping panoramic views
complement the outstanding
characteristics of this jewel of the
Southern Cape.
In a beautiful old railway station,
beside a quiet lagoon, the
Transkaroo restaurant dishes up
plates full of passionately created
South African cuisine. A customised
food/wine paring menu is available
especially for Diaz Express clients.
The vaulted wooden ceilings,
delicate ostrich egg chandeliers,
tasteful interior and a crackling fire
for those cold wintry days all
contribute to a warm and cosy
ambience. Rustic wooden benches
outside under lovely shady trees are
perfect for al fresco dining on a deck
with a view over the lagoon.
