DYF is pleased to be entering its 78th year of changing the way children, teens and families live with diabetes. Today, the breadth of DYF education, empowerment and support— offered throughout the year—encompasses: •Family-based activities such as Family Camps and Weekend Retreats •Age-based residential camps for children and teens •Extreme outdoor adventures like our Mt. Whitney Trip (14,505 ft.) •Community-centered DYF DAY events •Educational Symposiums with the greater T1D community •Reunion at BMC and an Alumni Association to support past participants We are committed to ensuring broad access to these programs and resources. It’s also important that we have the means to maintain our high quality level of support, for a growing number of participants. Therefore, DYF offers tiered Program pricing: those who are in a position to do so are encouraged to pay the Actual Fee of the program; if unable, a subsidized Partial Fee is available to all registrants; and finally, our Scholarship Program enables those with financial hardships to pay as little as the deposit to attend any program. DYF’s ultimate goal is to help our participants attain the courage, competence and confidence to live well with type 1 diabetes while they also develop a community of peers (with or without diabetes) who will support one another over long and happy lifetimes. We are optimistic that you will find something within these pages that will help in the day-to-day management of diabetes, in 2015 and beyond. DYF is a not-for-profit organization that relies upon the generous donations of individuals and corporations to make our Scholarship Program and Partial Fees possible. Special thanks to Tara Layman Photography and Collin Krauthamer for helping to capture the essence of camp. “ First, there is respite for us all. When [our son] comes home, we pick his brain because we want to understand how he is feeling. It helps us to consider new ideas and ways of dealing with the things we do day in and out. Plus, seeing his smile and knowing how much it meant to him is the prize! Your child must go. It is the best thing you can do for your child and for your family.” CAMP DE LOS NIñOS Parent 1 Information & r e g i s t r a t i o n a v a i l a b l e o n l i n e dyf overview Program Philosophy At DYF, we aim to provide children, teens and families the ready encouragement and ongoing education that living well with type 1 diabetes requires.
