Happy new year to you and yours!
Americana Indian Shows would like to thank
all of you for making 2014 a success and for
your support of Native American arts. We look
forward to serving you in the new year!
We kept busy this past holiday season with
purchasing new inventory. A good number of
artists came by with their jewelry to sell so they too
could do their holiday shopping. During that time several
trips were also made to Gallup and Zuni to restock.
We’re headed your way with an outstanding and fully
restocked inventory for you to choose from! There will be
lots of great new jewelry as well as a nice selection from
an extensive collection of jewelry which dates mostly from
the 1990’s to 2010. Alton Bedonie made several trips to see us
with new jewelry and as always delivered top-notch quality in his
signature style. He created one of his magnificent heavy bracelets
as well as some beautiful earrings and pendants. Included in
his works were long-awaited pieces using purple Charoite which
include a pendant and earring set and a gorgeous necklace. Alton
is also working on some new men’s and women’ rings, earrings
and two bolo ties which should be ready by the time this show
series starts. We purchased two new necklaces from Mary Tom
in an exciting new design incorporating red and purple spiny
oyster shell. Jack Tom came by with four of his necklaces as
well as one of his hard to get bolo ties (hopefully something he’ll
continue!). We visited with Nelson Begay and his family at the
beginning of the year when they stopped by on their way to the
new year sales at the Flagstaff mall and got three of his bracelets,
a gorgeous necklace with a large arrowhead-shaped centerpiece
(in a gorgeous contemporary style), and a beautiful bolo tie with
purple spiny oyster shell. He is currently working on some more
rings size 9 through 10½ and finishing up one of his magnificent
wide bracelets.
We met with Sunshine Reeves and his wife while on their way
to Sedona and purchased an awesome selection of Sunshine’s
hand-stamped jewelry. He recently acquired some new stamps
and we were in awe of the beautiful new designs he created with
them. There are bracelets both wide (1½”) and narrow (5/8”) as
well as a thick style which is stamped on all four sides and two
great looking all-silver buckles and two bolos. It was also a privilege
to see a gorgeous rug his wife had just completed. She is a very
accomplished and multi-award winning weaver and artist in her
own right.
On one of the trips to Gallup we met with Steven Arviso and
purchased some of his super cool bracelets. He calls his heavy
wide bracelets the “optical illusion” style. This bracelet actually look
like it is getting wider as you rotate it. A must see-it’s mesmerizing!
While in Gallup, we obtained some great Zuni pieces including two
beautiful pins by Ruddell and Nancy Laconsello as well as a
magnificent pair of needle point earrings by Connie Seowtewa.
In fact, we added lots of great new styles of Zuni jewelry this time!
The artists from Stone Weaver have also been very busy and we
have a nice new selection of their jewelry as well. As we go to
press, there are still lots of artists to see before the series begins,
including Myron Panteah, Alex Sanchez and Kee Yazzie. We
look forward to seeing you and showing you all the beautiful new
works!
See you at the show!

POTTERY & Beads
In addition to re-stocking our pottery inventory, we also
acquired a nice selection of bead work from a collector in Virginia.
This collection includes some newer as well as older
pieces.
For pottery, we have a very nice selection of
horse hair pottery from Navajo and Acoma artists
and our hand-coil inventory is very strong with
exquisite pieces from award winning artists such
as Maria Martinez, Sasha Red Starr, Glendora
Daubs, Paula Estevan, Sandra Victorino,
Denise Chevarria, Diane Lewis-Garcia, Marilyn
Lewis Ray, Dena Suina, Calvin Analla Jr, Franklin Peters
and many others.
As always we have a great selection of impressive pottery
for your home decorating, collecting or gift-giving. Whether you
want a molded or hand coiled piece, we have something that’s
sure to please, and fit your budget.
SCULPTURE & KATSINAS
Over the holidays we acquired some great new kachinas
from a number of artists in northern Arizona. Lawrence Dallas
crafted an interesting new scene that included a curved dwelling
wall and two kachinas emerging from kivas, Raymond Chee
carved an impressive U.S. cavalry Apache scout and a few
smaller kachinas in the 4 to 8 inch size and Jeremy Lanza
provided us with a very nice owl with an interesting base style to
it (hard to describe - you have to see it!). The creativity of these
carvings is just outstanding! There will be more coming in as
the new year progresses.
In alabaster, Marvin Toya carved some more small stone
pieces including a charming owl, which prompted me to request
more animal pieces from him as well that I hope to have soon.
In all, we will have a large and varied new inventory when
we head your way!

SANDPAINTINGS, RUGS & ART
Navajo Rugs
At the end of the summer I picked up some spectacular rugs
from the Teec Nos Pos trading post so we have a great selection
from this area for our holiday series. I will also be picking up rugs
from Bill Malone in Gallup before we head your way and plan to
have a nice selection of the smaller weavings as well, which are
great to put on tables or use for display with pottery or kachinas.
These smaller weavings also make great gifts. Another popular
item is the Navajo pillow set made by Sally Arviso. We have
requested more from her and are hoping to have at least two or
three sets by show time.
Sand paintings
On our buying trips to the Ship Rock area we obtained
several very nice and finely detailed sand paintings with excellent
matting work. We also picked up a nice selection of smaller sand
paintings, as well as some of the small boxes with sand-painted
lids. These make great accent pieces (also a great place to store
the TV remotes) and very nice gifts too.
